It's not a great deal for everyone.... however for those that actually use the unlimited voice it's fantastic IMO. I use upwards of 2k mins a month (when I'm actually in nz that is!) and can now add my wife and my parents to the plan for not much more. Woot.

Am i missing something? $69 = 1.5gb data
add a $20 data pack:
$89 = 2.5gb data, same data as $119 plan but cheaper
add a $50 data pack:
$119 = 4.5gb data, same price as $119 plan but more data

Why would you buy a more expensive plan? Or are these ineligible for buying data packs? It says if you're running low on data, you can top it up with more.
Also does this make their normal carryover plans redundant, or are they still going to be there for the device subsidies?

I'd appreciate some explanation about how the traditional shared data options co-exist with the share everything plans.
You could previously share the data allocated to your Pay Monthly plan with up to five devices and 2Degrees weren't enforcing any per device charge.
If I want to have share everything calls and data on three additional devices, as well as share my data to my iPad, is that possible?
It'd be a waste to have to use the iPad as one of the share everything devices, since it can't use the texts and minutes, and I'd be paying $20 per month to do it vs $0 previously.

Although the advertising encourages you to do them together, in actual fact the two services are completely independent. You could share data with A, B and C but calls/texts with D, E and F if you wanted to. If you did, you'd pay nothing for A, B and C but D, E and F cost $20 each.

EDIT: Just for crystal clarity -- the traditional shared data product is unchanged.

When it comes to talking at length on mobile phones, New Zealanders are trailing behind most nations. Americans, by comparison, use their mobile devices nearly five times as much as Kiwis, but the fear of sky-rocketing mobile phone bills still stands in the way of Kiwis following this worldwide trend.

In a further step to get Kiwis talking more, 2degrees has launched a new range of ‘Share Everything’ plans, at a price point never been seen before, that is set to shake up the mobile market in New Zealand.

The new ‘Share Everything’ plans start at $69 for unlimited calls and texts to NZ and Australia, plus loads of NZ Carryover Data – then share it all with up to three other 2degrees mobile customers for just $20 a month each.

2degrees Chief Marketing Officer, Malcolm Phillipps, says the new ‘Share Everything’ plans offer another great deal for customers in a bid to liberate Kiwis when it comes to talking and using their mobiles more.

“Based on sharing, these innovative plans empower families, groups of friends and businesses to use their mobiles the way they have always wanted to without the fear of bill shock and unexpected costs. The more you share with people, the more value you get, “says Mr Phillipps.

Starting from just $69 per month, all 2degrees’ new Share Everything plans come with a pool of unlimited calls and texts to NZ and Australia, plus loads of carryover data that can be shared. Customers simply choose a plan that best suits them based on how much data they need, and then decide if they want to share their plan with other people.

To launch the ‘Share Everything’ plans, 2degrees has teamed up with the world’s fastest talking female, Fran Capo who holds six Guinness World Records, to encourage kiwis to get talking. Fran will be available to media on Tuesday 10th/Wednesday 11th December.

Lets not for get the iPhone on the 13th this Friday! its also my understanding that the master account holder has a choice to share or not to share data! and the extra members can purchase a value pack if needed.

Good news if you have multiple people in your family that use a lot of minutes but hardly any data. I don't know anybody like that though. Maybe five years ago, before everyone got smartphones. 2D, can you make a more modern version with 300 minutes and 3GB or something?

Voice and text allowances have absolutely skyrocketed in the last few years but data allowances just sit there, stubbornly refusing to move much past 1GB. I'm sure I'm not the only person on this site for whom data allowance is by far and away the most important component of my cellphone plan?

Cool to finally see a decent shared plan though - it's a start!

Seems you're better off just buying data separately anyway once you've got the base plan. And if minutes and texts arent important to you, then you can just use their standard shared data offering anyway.

300 minutes.. you've got it but let's call it unlimited.

We've increased the data on our $39 and above Carryover Plans and customers also get more minutes.

We've also introduced new notifications for Pay Monthly customers when their plan data is running low. We'll try to send them an SMS when they hit 100MB, 50MB, 20MB and 0MB with a reminder to add our brand new $10 500MB NZ Data pack to tide them over.

Just read on the 2D site that the Share Everything plans also include landline on your mobile, an additional $10 value.

So i'm thinking the higher tiers are for people who don't want to bother buying data packs and/or want a handset subsidy. Makes sense.

I spotted the bump from 750MB to 1GB yesterday, that's definitely welcome (and necessary to match T and V's current offerings). And $10 for 500MB is a step in the right direction. It's still less data for my $39 than the plan I signed up for almost two years ago, though. I do get way more minutes on the new plan but I never even came close to using the 120 I'm currently getting. Unsure if I'll be staying when my contract comes up in February.

Anyway, this thread is about the Share Everything plans - I think i'm veering more and more off topic!
