Lorenceo: Same thing has happened here.

hows things going for you today?

i just got a response from snap on my email ticket

A fault was logged for you on the date of 03/03/2014 in regards to this as we suspected that this was due to congestion with the cabinet that you were connecting to.
Chorus have come back and advised that there are no known issues with congestion on the device that you are connecting through on their end.

In this case Troy, I would like to ask whether these issues have been resolved at this time?

so, apparently no fault found right? as said previously, given that your on a different cabinet to me, it doesnt appear to be the case at all.

so, cleared up? still having it?

Nope, still happening here.
In the last email I had from Snap they said they were asking the network team to look at the problem. No news since then.
I'm not connected to a cabinet. I'm connected to an exchange. The other person I know being affected by this is connected to a cabinet.

alerted the snap rep that replied to my ticket to this thread, he has since got on board with the snap rep that posted in here and they are getting more onto the problem at hand as its clear its not just congestion limited to me.

I just had a huge bout of packet loss around 6:50pm, and about 10% since then. Seems to only be affecting downstream traffic.

Edit: And now my ping has shot up to over 100ms to the first snap hop, along with more massive packet loss.

hmm mine didnt do that.

however snap are rerouteing me today, to do a test. so it could be to blame for, as my PPP dropped at 6.50, maybe they also did it to you?

doesnt look like the full changes for the test have happened quite yet, judging by latencys.

high ups in snap are looking at this very closely however :) lets hope a solution is found!

PPP didn't drop here. Had huge packet loss at the exact same times as the gaps on your graph though.
Ping is back to 20ms~ now. Will be interesting to see if it rises this evening or not.

Pings are still high this evening. So much for that theory.

well, a spot of good and bad news.

the good news, is it doesnt appear to be congestion in snaps network or their BRAS, but that puts it with chorus..

im sure snap will give a proper update here when they have more to say, but tests last night ticked a fair few boxes off the possibility checklist.

take it things still arent looking pleasant for the nodes your monitoring Lorenceo?

Hi All,

Firstly a huge thanks to hio77 for all his help with this! its most appreciated.

We think we have this narrowed down to an area around a good portion of connections hosted around the greater Mt Albert Area (note you could be a long way away from Mt Albert but this seems to be the closest major exchange area which you may be hosted off) we are working with Chorus at present and hope to have this resolved very soon. we will keep everyone updated.

Cheers,
TheRalph
