Vodafone, if you are reading this, this thread very much makes me want roll over minutes and data. 9 months of the year I only get through about 1/2 of what I get given, the other 3 months I hammer my usage!

If that's the case, what on earth prevents you from moving to 2Degress like the rest of us?

The broadband discount I get.

So $10month is worth more than the amount you 'hammer' it for in 3 months... And you still unhappy?

Pffft - I don't know what you are complaining about... sure you HAVE paid for it, but it's just like other businesses right... at the end of the month Pak & Save come and take back all your unused groceries, and Mobil come and syphon all the unused gas out of your car... I mean... why should you expect to actually keep the things you've paid for?

On a serious note, the analogy doesn't really work exactly because you're signing up for a service with a specific agreed set of terms that you are given allocations that only last a month. Thats what they are contractually obliged to offer you in return for your money and thats what you agreed to pay them for.

It's all about choice, if you don't like what you're getting, you can leave. Bundle deals like the one mentioned are designed exactly to do what they are doing to you - add an incentive to keep everything with them, and a disincentive to move a service away from them.

On a more positive note, now sitting on 1.2gb of carry over data!

To the big minutes and data bankers here, do/can you move down to lowest tier plan without sacrificing banked mins/MB?

Yup, switching between carry over plans doesn't report to lose your balance (but haven't tried as i'm already on the lowest $19 plan)

I haven't tried switching down, but I was reluctant to switch across from my old (non data carryover) plan as I had 1400 minutes that I would lose. 4 months later and I now have 1000 minutes back and 2.5gig of data. Kicking myself for not switching over sooner!

Originally I was getting about 200 minutes and unlimited text messages but this was upgraded a while back. For a few months around Christmas, they were giving me double data. I'm quite pleased with it since I'm forever using data when out and about and share it with my sisters phone and my iPad too. Can't wait for 4G! :)

2 degrees completely changed the way I use a cell phone. I don't regret switching over at all. In the bad old days of Vodafone it cost more and I used to worry about the bill and look for landlines to borrow. Now I just pick up the cell phone and use it with out worrying about the time of day, network I'm calling or the cost.

I especially like the data sharing. Best idea ever!! I don't have to tether my phone to my laptop anymore, saving my phones battery. I have a proper 3G dongle in the laptop bag that still uses my phones data. Looking out for an internal 3G card, and I will leave the 2nd sim inside my laptop.

I couldn't agree more. 2Degrees have really come up with innovative ideas, that seem to reflect the way I'd like to use my phone and data. Once in a while I come across a company that exceeds my expectations and 2Degrees have always done this. I never hesitate to just pickup my phone and use it without thinking.

I had a call from a Telecom/Spark sales person today (as I have their VDSL), trying to talk me into moving my mobile over to them. I took delight in telling them how satisfied I was with my current 2D plan.

2degrees has definitely led the change for mobile carriers in New Zealand which has been great to see. I saw an ad on TV the other night from Vodafone for a red share plan with unlimited texting and calling to NZ and Australia and data sharing between mobiles and devices which sounds pretty similar to 2D plans already on the market.

Although I agree that 2degrees used to be very innovative with their plans and products, they've been quite lackluster as of late. Their delayed introduction of 4G (especially as a new carrier) is a pretty disappointing example.

I use Spotify premium and Telecoms free Spotify premium with their $29 prepaid plan looks quite appealing. I don't know, perhaps it's asking too much but I firmly believe 2degrees need to step it up a little. How about offering Spotify premium too? (or a competing service such as Pandora one, Google music, etc), maybe enter the home broadband/landline market and allow users to share home broadband data caps and minutes between mobile phones, home phones and home internet or allow unmetered YouTube or something..
