Calling cards on better network doesn't really work. There are some calling cards that may work but no guarantee. Give them a call and find out what calling cards may work
Knew of a small/home business switched from traditional to an emulated PSTN whose fax machine stopped working and the EFTPOS slowed to a crawl. Advised them to switch landline back to Telecom due to these interoperability issues which can occur but I guess that may no longer be an option.

These legacy services may not work on any line, eftpos should be run over IP in anycase. All current terminals should support it, and the charges for using IP were removed a long time ago.

Theoretically at least, shouldn't fax work if the gateways support T38?
BTW, so there's still no word on any homeline providers offering a discount for people who have UBS with someone else (i.e. passing on the credit they receive). I'm guessing Spark is the most common homeline provider in such a case, but I'm interested if any homeline provider is doing so.

I've never come across a single EFTPOS terminal that hasn't worked over VoIP - but regardless, you should be using IP now anyway due to the massive speed benefits.
As for fax? It's a 98% solution over VoIP. Can never be 100% but is pretty close. If you're not getting performance like that then you're a) with a poor provider or b) don't have things configured well.

Um...the fact that right now I have the ability to choose the providers that I have for each of my services, while under the new plan, to remain with my choice of providers for the same services that I currently pay $103 for, I'd be paying $125.00
That's what this discussion is for.
And the fact the increase in broadband cost is ~50%.
Is it your expectation that it Slingshot looses money to provide you with a service? They have had their cost go up due to circumstances beyond their control. If you are unhappy about it go complain to the people who set the costs.
