Yep, looks like you have moved onto 998. with US0 enabled! thats good to see!

Unfortunately, 998 Will likely net lower upload speeds on 8b, on more marginal lines - which your line shows quite obviously.

if US0 wasnt there, you would probably be seeing 2mbit less on the upstream! (graph is a bit small for me to actually calculate it in detail)

Were you always on a 9dB snr profile?

Ild hope you dont loose that 9dB profile, moving to a 12dB profile will net a slight loss on both downstream and upstream.

The one thing that im interested in, which isnt shown is power levels. especially on the 9dB profile, i have seen in the past it do odd things to lines forgood. They are quite a rare occurrence.

Unfortunately, that is the downside of 998.

As i said before, Im very glad to see US0 in use!

This was one of the bigger questions that where left unanswered about chorus's choice to go forward with 998.

Its the stock standard, People only care about their Download speeds thing though that allow the off chance of loss of speed on an asymetric line. Cant keep everyone happy.

I don't see that you have a problem:

1. You are 750m from the exchange, so you are lucky to have VDSL at all
2. Your estimated speed was 18 down and 7.6 up
3. You are getting 41.8 down and 8.7 up.

That is a good result smile

Hes stating a problem with his personal view of how he uses his connection with the changes from 997 to 998.

In the whole scheme of things, No it isnt a problem, but that doesnt mean you cant be still upset that it has changed.

At the rate your connection is changing, ild say DLM is redoing its training period. (potentially this is also part of the test.) post your stats page again. i suspect you may have dropped to DLM-1

its the fickle nature of VDSL, and the effects crosstalk can have on a line

Or it has just rained on the network. Sooner the copper is left for dead the better.

Great to see there's such a speed increase on VDSL, and interesting about the limits of distance.

Our local exchange (corner of Tuahiwi Road and Turiwhaia Road) is just been upgraded to VDSL. I see my house is 600m down the road, assuming the wire runs straight down there (it appears to). Spark said the work in the exchange is just being finished and around the 5th they'll call me to arrange a time to come here.

Already received the spark modem.

Speedtest to Christchurch on my ADSL2 currently gets:
