LCA is only relevant to the POTS.

LAC is a terminology specific to GSM mobile networks.

If one partial network isnt providing you the service you need then go to another telco, preferably one that operates their own complete network.

The more people that walk for these issues then the more chance that they may finish building a network so they can have more control over the level of service that their customers get.

LAC for voice & sms
RAC for data

I also think that when you move between the 2 networks it might force the device to drop to 2G then it will move back to 3G/4G. That is what in the questions they ask have you tried locking the device to 2G.

Anything I suggest or say is my own thoughts and not provided by anyone else unless stated

I have had a call from 2degrees.
They would like specific times etc which I cant provide and to keep a future list . Unfortunately I have had no more emergency calls only and in calling friends report no messages (I'm sorry...2degrees can't locate that number. (I don't have a message box). Info regarding data calls I had no answers as I use wifi at home as it is hassle  free. I did try 2degrees data for them but it was largely unusable with no progress and retry the norm.

Questions about new buildings etc (none) but 3 very tall trees across the road were removed about 3 months ago and may be some part of the problem?

I have now found in google play store Network call info lite . Here it finds under 2degrees 2G only (GPRS). This is the poor quality voice and as above no useful data.. There is many others. Can anyone recommend a better one?

In Vodafone both GPRS and UMTS . Voice and data were both very good.

Now... is there a setting in the phone to use select automatically and not using 2degrees when the signal does not register any bars ?

They had questions regarding SMS etc which I don't use often so had no answers.

I will keep a list and report to them but the annoying thing is problems appear to have disappeared at the moment.

had a frustrating time trying to get details but have noticed numerous times "emergency calls only" with full strength. When I attempt to lock on it disappears. After it disappears I can select OK. I have found some details

LAC 48397 INFO NOT AVAILABLE.

Today times were 4pm and 5 30pm.

Does anybody know what this  is ?

LAC 48397 looks like it could be a Spark LAC (since I have observed 48392 and 48393). So possibly you're picking up a Spark signal in an area where neither 2degrees or Vodafone have any service. Or if you usually get 2degrees and/or Vodafone signal where you were maybe it was unavailable at the time. Just a guess on my part though.

Have checked at Spark shop. No new sites. Just the old two at the Cossie club and at Hautapu.

Am changing my 027 prepay back from 2degrees to Spark and will put the SIM into my Samsung s3 mini and see if it works OK. The future of my 2degrees on account will then be decided.

some surprises.

Using a Spark 027 number SIM I replaced my 022 SIM in my Samsung s3 mini. It works perfectly with no emergency calls only and perfect sound etc.

I put the 022 SIM into the old IDEOS U8150 and it also worked perfectly .

Changed them back ...same old problem.

The Samsung s3 mini was originally a Spark mobile but had been reset etc several times and had worked for months until this problem had arrived.

I am now looking for a new phone like a Nokia lumia etc with Windows 10.

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but it's not UMTS 850 instead of 900, is it?

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.

As far as I know all the s3 minis sold by rsps in NZ were 850/900/1900/2100 devices. I know a family member was using one for Vodafone and 2degrees in Te Awamutu and surrounding without issue.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

I'm almost positive that the S3 Mini was triband 3G with Spark selling a 850 model and Vodafone selling a 900 model. GSM Arena also lists the S3 mini as triband. If your model is ex Spark I strongly suspect this will be your issue.

the phone works OK in Cambridge and Hamilton etc but goes wonky when returning to Leamington. If it was an 850 I don't think it would work on 2degrees anywhere ? My understanding is this is programmed into the SIM (?) Is it possible that Telecom (now Spark) have locked it in the phone so with the 2Degrees SIM in it is trying to use both 850 and 900 ?

You should still get 2g however. Unless they are finally turning that dinosaur off.
