Still no visible progress but I have managed to get through to Rebecca on the fibre team a few times.  She's says the serco (ISP speak for service company) should have done the outside part in the next week.  She said the job notes said the serco had tried to contact me but failed - I think that's bollocks and she didn't seem to believe it either...  No idea who the mysterious serco is, still waiting.

Thought they ran prisons, poorly.

Nah, they run a whole lot of different things, poorly. Almost won the bid to run the Wellington metro trains, but lost thankfully.

Hi,  just thought I would close this off as it has finally had a happy ending after several months.

The Chorus guys (Visionstream) showed up yesterday and did a nice job blowing the fibre through the pre-laid duct which made it an easy job.  They cabled neatly and were helpful and flexible resulting in a good setup.

Within a couple of hours of them completing Orcon activated the service and I was up & running on 100/20.

The process has to be one of the most poorly managed exercises I've ever had to suffer through.  Glad it's over now and thanks to the guys who once they were on site were professional and proficient.  It's just the bureaucratic bullsh*t and lack of any ownership leading up to this point that makes you despair.
