So did a bit of testing tonight, looks like nothing much has changed @Sounddude. Am also seeing a strange IPv6 error which doesn't seem to affect other speedtest servers (linetest.nz doesn't work - just says can't connect to server). This is an odd error, when using a wireless connection with IPv6 enabled, everythign works ok (but its strange that other servers work fine on ethernet without any issues).

The changes were made on the Auckland servers. Are you able to test against those please and paste results again.

@Sounddude - Doesn't look like there's any difference from home to the AKL Vocus Speedtest server - interestingly linetest.nz gets a faster result via a browser (again - this doesn't work when IPv6 is enabled via ethernet).

Linetest.nz result to AKL.

Don’t have a PC that can handle gigabit but these are the speeds I get when testing it with an Apple TV 4K.

Ping - 9ms
Jitter 0.19ms
Loss 0%

Ping - 11ms

@Sounddude still don’t understand why me, Tanivula and others can’t seem to get gigabit speeds at any of the Vocusgroup NZ servers but is fine using other speed test servers. Any chance you can ask your superiors to investigate what may be causing this issue whether its a Vocus/routing issue with Wellington customers or a Chorus issue. Thanks.

We think its more of a server thing that a customer line/routing issue. But yes we are actively investigating.

I will re-iterrate that at work (on VF, also in Porirua), have no problems registering gigabit dl speeds to the Vocus servers (AKL or CHCH).

Using orcon stock and standard modem they provided, and desktop is right beside the modem connected through wifi. Does connecting through wifi not allow me to achieve the 100+ to 1000 Mbps speeds?

Test via ethernet mate. Depending on the wireless capabilities of your laptop, you should be able to get higher than 60/70Mbps but unless you're running a high end wireless network you're never going to get gigabit speeds out of it wirelessly. I'm guessing you're connected to the 2.4GHz wifi rather than 5Ghz. What are the specs of your WiFi controller on your laptop? Can it see/connect to the 5Ghz network?

why would you connect via wifi when you are right next to the router? use a cable

as for the speed it all depends on the WIFI standard and connection rate of your device and router as to what speed you will be but it could be anywhere from 20-700mbps.

give your speed im guessing it a wifi N device connected at 150mbps

5GHz makes a big difference as well. Impressed with my Elitebook getting full 100/20 speed on 5GHz.

@Sounddude - do you think the upcoming BNG upgrade
in WLG might make a difference here? Saw on the Sam Knows box (which is generally in line with my Vocus AKL speedtest results) increased for a brief period, but has gone back down to the ~400mbit level.

Understand with stuff & the IPv6 rollout + COVID, you might have not had much ability to check this out!
