I just gave SH a call and it turned out that in order to sign-up I need to have a phone line, which I currently do not have. On the question would SH be able to give me the phone line the girl on the phone said No. What kind of provider is that? She gave me an advise to connect with telecom first and then reconnect to SH %) amazin, is'n it? Can someone, who has expirience in this kind of situations give me an advise on how much will it totally cost me if I do what she told me.

I got given the same advice a while ago when I wanted to signup with Orcon, you'll need to pay the connection fee to Telecom which I think is around $52 plus one months full service for the line (even if you only have it for 2 hours) so depending on your location $40-$50, so thats around $90-$100 just to get a phone line that you can transfer over to SH. At the moment this is the only way to have for your homeline with anyone other than Telecom and Telstra.

ok, so that makes $100 for telephone for the first month and 99.99 for SH. I guess just gonna have to wait till the next month to cover up the expences, thx for the advise :)

by any chance, maybe anyone knows are there any conditions apply when I sign up for telephone line with telecom? a contract or cancelation fee apply?

Interesting plans indeed, but I guess we'll have to wait to see these inventive ideas working. For now, I'm happy to pay for my Gbs and get FS from Orcon+. What I do like on Slingshot is the ability to buy extra data packs before the next billing cycle. Orcon sucks bad for not doing it.

I think Januaray will bring in changes to the service switching, I know Slingshot has been working hard to make it easy to change from Vodafone to Slingshot without paying teleocm.

Things I like about Slingshot, Buying more datablocks and that these datablocks don't expire if you don't use all the data in a month.

My sister ordered a new orcon+ connection at her place to run alongside the flatmates existing wholesaled telecom connection, and it was installed no worries without her getting a telecom line connected first in her name. Bloody quick service too, chorus left a card like the day after the order was taken.

how late in to janaury will we have to wait? I know it is nearly the end of December now... but I'm not sure about how much longer I can surive without internet access at home!!

what is the best option for people who don't already have a phone line, perhaps I should go with woosh?!
Does vodafone offer new landline connections? (as I hear something about the transistion from them to slingshot will be better?!)

So just reading through this thread and it appears I'm screwed if I want to swtich to the "next big thing" as I am currently on Orcon LLU. Is this still the case that the phone line needs to be with Telecom?

This is almost as bad as naked DSL.

Slingshot = Useless.. When it comes to giving information.

One CSR tells me "We have no idea when you will be able to have ADSL2+"
the next one tells me, "early January should be when you have access to it"
And now i'm being told "HAng on, your exchange isn't due for an upgrade until 2010!"

Come on.. what the hell is going on?!

I think I might just stick Slingshot, and go move across to Orcon who seem to have their marbles lined up. They have PROMISED and CAN offer me ADSL2+ where I am.

Turns out they'd be cheaper at the moment than having what I have now with slingshot (home line/tolls/interweb, etc.) even offering more bandwidth etc.
However, i'd rather stick with Slingshot if I could simply because I'm getting sick of changing providers. It's a pain.

I don't think there will be much news until the 12th as most people are away, spending time with family.
I know Slingshot has plans to improve porting of users on the RED Network without the need of Telecoms month long delays,
not sure if they have a similar contract with Orcon as Slingshot isn't using the Orcon network.

But: after reading the slingshot forums, there could be a letter saying it could be next month. I wonder what/who the delay is?
