Poster doesn’t state when it worked on other networks, and given it was end of March (assuming networks stuck to advertised timetables, the it was just a few days ago.

The question in hand is specific to VoWiFI registration to 2D rather than cellular access. The process being tested is in airplane mode with WiFi on so no cellular service is being used.

aj6828:

im on the same boat as you on a honor 400 pro .. works fine on other networks not 2d.. tried Pixel IMS and Shizuku patch etc

Other networks that still have not closed down their 3G networks by chance?

All networks have shutdown 3g now..

Yep wifi calling works fine with one nz sim.. and with the 2d sim volte only no wifi calling..

Just to make sure checked the 2d SIM on a iPhone wifi and it works fine..

I think on 2d end they haven't added a profile or some setting to this phone profile..

That's strange considering all those Huawei devices that can do VoWiFi but no VoLTE on 2degrees.

FWIW - bought my son a Redmi 10 few years ago from PB, enabled both VoLTE & WiFi calling using those dial pad codes, and had been working flawlessly on One, also tested my daughter's 2D SIM in it and can confirm working on both fronts also.

Thanks. Interesting. I suspect it was 2D aapproved device being locally supplied by PB. Time will tell what we finally find out.

VoWiFi on my Mi 11 Lite 5G bought from PB also doesn't work with 2degrees/Warehouse Mobile, but works fine with One NZ.

A good resolution in the end. I bought and tested a one.nz sim and tested the service and with same settings the Redmi Note 10 Pro connects and works fine with VoWiFi. So its a carrier corporate decision rather than a hardware problem and I am changing to one.nz.

I doubt 2degrees will blink over loosing my prepay account but I have been with 2degrees since they launched and it's disappointing that they block capable phones services. Lesson learnt. Don't use 2degrees.

It's not "blocked" per se, it's more that your handset (by the sounds of it) doesn't have 2degrees's profile for VoLTE on it.

But good that you got it sorted in the end.

@andyit this is where you are 110% incorrect nothing to do with the 2degrees they have not " they block capable phones services '

Perhaps if I am 110% wrong you can tell my why the same settings don't work on 2D but do on one.nz.

Most likely because - as I said above - that phone doesn't appear to have 2degrees's profile for VoLTE on it (but it must have ones).

Because you don't choose the settings, they come from a carrier package that its up to the phone vendor to bundle in the firmware. Some telcos use defaults so unlocking with the diler code that PB tech give you work, others have specific settings that are missing from your handset.

Complain to your handset vendor that its missing from their firmware on an obsolete phone. See how little they care. I am in the same boat with my obsolete xiaomi mi mix 2, it works on spark and one networks with the dialler code. (other than a whacky ringback tone on outgoing calls) 2degrees is not working. As its been out of support since mid covid times I have no complaints to either side as I am choosing to keep using an out of date phone.

because its not setting you can set, its settings baked into the handset.

None of the above comments are quite correct. Every other NZ carrier - except 2degrees - follows the GSMA spec for what the format of a VoLTE server's domain name should look like. Because of this non-compliance, every phone model that wishes to use the 2degrees network needs to be specifically configured to use their custom VoLTE server name. It's not immediately clear why 2degrees made this choice but regardless it has the practical effect of blocking every phone that they (2degrees) have not certified from using their VoLTE services. If 2degrees were to simply set up the default VoLTE server domain name with GSMA it's more likely than not that a bunch more phones would work.
