Use vuze, it lets you set upload / download speeds, heck I set my upload to 1kb and dl to unlimited.

So you use vuze because you like how it looks?

No, that would be stupid. Im saying I use the classic (azureus) interface, because then you dont have to deal with all the extra settings and features that where brought out when vuze was released.

1gkar: Update:

Finally, call me cheapskate, but is there a programme that can block the flash advertising, & any other forms, so it doesn't eat into my data capping? Or doesn't the broadband connection work that way? ie. is data measured the moment it leaves the servers, regardless of whether it is blocked at the point of entry (into the receiving PC).

If you use firefox (and you do, right?) you can use the adblock plus extension and/or flashblock.
(search the mozilla firefox extensions page)

If you don't use firefox, you could try something like privoxy.

I stopped using azureus when I realised that almost every time I wanted to use it, it'd start downloading updates (which were often larger than the torrent itself...). Frown

Thanks for the recommendations. I will try them out when I get an opportunity. Probably will leave it until this torrent DL completes.

@Kyhwana2-Yes, I am using latest version of Firefox. Will definitley have a look at those add-ons. Cheers. Should take the time out to have a good look at what is available for add-ons.

Slingshot: How'd it all go 1gkar?
Scott,

As per my earlier post, I am very happy with the results of Slingshot as my new ISP. Was waiting until the next billing period just to see if all was proper with regards my free month before I updated.

Seeing as how you have asked, as I understand it, I can carry across the excess data to the following month. What happens with the free month? As my account was activated on around the 19th May & I used a lot less than my allowance, what happens to the rest of the data? Can that be carried across?

The data that comes free with your plan, expires at the end of the monthly.
Extra Data you buy takes 1yr to expire, until tehn it keeps rolling over into the next month.
