Cool, its good to see there are other users we can huddle around the fire with and give nasty looks in TC's general direction!

i guess all i can really say is where the hell is snaps youtube caching server cos it aint working. visit a video then 15 mins later go back and still buffering like mad, i thought that a cache server is just that. the first person to view the video has to fully download it, then after that the 2nd person should have it nice and almost instant due to it being cached.

Could be a few issues here.

How is snap pushing data in to Telecom?  Are they sharing Telstra hand over?  Reach isn't the only thing that's got congested this weekend.

yes and now youtube actually streams now without buffering.

it is safe to say that the telstra free weekend was at fault.

RalphFromSnap: Hey Elpie, if you could PM us your username or customer number I can get someone to call you!

Appreciate that Ralph but I didn't see your post till just now (I gave up on the Net yesterday). However, with respect, I don't want a phone call. I believe everyone here who has faced the same issues deserves an answer so please post the response you would have given me over the phone. Thank you.

Actually I would strongly recommend you do both if you don't want this to happen again.  Snap will need some 'customer feedback' to their helpdesk to back up claims with their upstream provider and justify getting some upstream service from another provider.  I'm sure the Orcon Wholesale rep will be calling this morning.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

mercutio: snip

Doesn't look like they are advertising all their prefixes to all providers though, check the info. It's probably only for their google cache as they would be peered with Odyssey and not Orcon....
