codyc1515:Behodar:sbiddle: No mention of install pricing other than the mention of it varying depending on the property..
I've asked for a price, although I bet that it'll be horrendous for me due to topography, node location, etc. I'll post back once I hear something.
A few months back I think I got a quote for around $4000 for a house nearby.

They won't be lining up to join UFB if $4000 is a typical cost.

I think that price was through either Telecom Wholesale or Chorus and the price for 50GB a month was around $1000.
ChrisNZL: Good to see the plans.
Really hope Chorus turns off my street's "fibre trial" status or whatever and lets me choose an ISP, rather than being forced to use Xnet.
Rang Orcon about it but no ETA for my address, even though I'm already using fibre... zzz
codyc1515:antoniosk:codyc1515:Behodar:hellonearthisman: Business pricing plans
Business fibre pricing plans start at $169+GST (30Mbps/10Mbps/5Mbps/5Mbps)
Is the 5Mbps/5Mbps their capped speeds or is there only the $2/GB option.
I think that's the CIR.
Wow, so hang on, you pay for 100Mbps, e.g., but you may only actually be able to get 5Mbps at any given time?
Yep.
But if you think it through, it will take some years for the rings to fill up, so the first customer will get stonking service and it will decline from there.
If thats the case then eventually the speed will be worse than ADSL2+. So whats the benefit?

PaulBrislen: [snip]
Personally I don't think any residential owner should be paying a penny and the ISPs shouldn't either. They're there to sell the service, the LFCs are there to build the network. This clearly falls on the network side of the fence.
Cheers
Paul

Talkiet: I'm at the wrong end of a 90metre sealed driveway... You're personal opinion is that someone else should pay for that to be dug up and have fibre laid? Man, I'd vote for you if you can present a business case that makes that work!!!

I thought the whole idea of this UFB thing was to use state funds to ensure every home got service and cover out some of these sorts of issues.
I'm in a block where I'll need 1m of trench. Does this mean I get a credit paid to me on my tax and telco bill because I'm going to need much less than the average?
