Thanks for the reply, its all good just now and again it can be fickle but cant have it good everyday i guess, just that day it seemed like it wanted to disconnect and it didn't but all good now thanks.

If torrenting was killing the connection entirely - and not just slowing it down a fair bit - I'd be looking at the software settings (such as making sure any upload isn't saturating the connection and that the connection limit isn't set too high) and the modem/router (that it can handle the number of connections being thrown at it.)

Exactly what I did. Used to be fine till switching to unlimited plan. Its not a major at the moment so I haven't pursued it much. Looking at my usage I'll probably go back to a capped plan anyway. Its definitely at the modem (or beyond) side of things - all other network activity is fine as I can copy stuff around the LAN (over wireless too). Connection isn't dropped at the modem either and nothing much in the logs. Pretty sure its outside of my control.

YouTube streaming seems to be very up and down tonight. Not sure why as every other evening it was just fine. Downloading the video seems to work just fine though.

Still no major problems at any other part of the day though compared to some of the other stories I've heard. Good stuff :)

Excellent service, excellent speeds in fact upto 1.6-1.8mbs from international seedbox during off peak hours. Peak low as 800kbs to 1.1mbs.
I cant stress how good this plan is, sigh up now. No regrets what so ever.

Is it required to sign up for a homeline contract if I want to get both homeline and this broadband plan? I just called the call centre and the rep told me that I need to sign up for a contract for the homeline and tolls with a 50$ early termination fees. I don't want to sign up for any contracts for broadband or homeline.

The unlimited broadband ( with "no Strings" ) is exactly that, just for broadband. Keep your existing homeline service and go for slingshots unlimited plan or change to slingshots homeline and you will need to enter into a contract.

Also remember, either way you decide, you need to supply your own modem.

Unlimited plan has worked very well for me with no worries about data usage.

How are people finding this service for gaming?

i play world of warcraft and low ping is extremely important for enjoyable game-play.

can someone please shed some light on their gaming experience with the new AYCE?

it seems that everyone is having a good time with general downloading, so i'm just concerned with how a switch over to slingshot would impact online gaming for me.

Pretty good for me, i cant speak for everyone though, normal game play I'll be around 140ms come raid time it will goto around 200ms only thing for me is i cant download in the background or else my ping shoots up too around 1700ms and i disconnect, its probably just me though others probably download and play without getting a high ping.

Gaming is good, ping is around 80 - 150 in most times. Peak times is 230max.

Mostly fine but Aussie routes can be pretty bad some days (160+ms to servers that are 70-80ms usually.)
