Having some issues with Snap's Akamai server, trying to download http://cdn.mysql.com/Downloads/MySQL-5.6/MySQL-5.6.12-1.el6.x86_64.rpm-bundle.tar which seems to go fast until a point then slows to 20-30KB/s (I'm on 100Mbit UFB).

It was quicker for me to download it to a server in the US and download from there (@7-8MB/s)

try looking up cdn.mysql.com on 8.8.8.8 (host -t a cdn.mysql.com 8.8.8.8) and then doing curl -x <that ip>:80 -O  http://cdn.mysql.com/Downloads/MySQL-5.6/MySQL-5.6.12-1.el6.x86_64.rpm-bundle.tar

download.cdn.mozilla.net is slow too.
