ive had a half a dozen pages ive had to reload over last few days, which is unusual

some mediaportal logs from my htpc shows quite a few "remote name could not be resolved" starting from the 12th Feb

seems like there is a issue

7390 VDSL w/ IPv6 disabled, 6.03 firmware.

Hi All,

We currently have the DNS issues under investigation, to help out can you advise if you are using the Fritz box as your DNS server (although we note that customers without the Fritz box are also seeing these issues, which pretty much rules out the the Fritz box)

Can you also try and set your name servers manually in the device you are having issues with to ns2.snap.net.nz (202.37.101.2) and ns3.snap.net.nz (202.37.101.3) and see if you still have the same issues.

Also when reporting the problem can you let us know your location and if you are on DSL or Fibre.

Thanks,
TheRalph

auckland, VDSL, using the fritz on auto configured nameservers, changing nameservers over now. (or most probably simply forcing it)

will see how it goes.

jasonh: For now I am going to move to open dns. Problem is I havent been able to access it to get set up details because of these problems.

Having the same problem and think I will join you.

OpenDNS has the following DNS servers:

  • 208.67.222.222
  • 208.67.220.220

You know Google have their own as well?

  • 8.8.8.8
  • 8.8.4.4

Good to remember if you need DNS somewhere and need to pull the ips out of the hat.

Not using Fritz as DNS, was using manually configured DNS -  203.37.101.1 and 202.37.101.2  already

Henderson, Auckland - VDSL.

im referring to this page, should i change all my customers to .2 and .3. ?

Just did that for my FritzBox on SNAP VDSL. For some strange reason, while set on 'auto' mode, it only set one dns address: 202.37.101.1.

Changed that to manual @ 202.37.101.2 and 8.8.8.8.

Thanks, it did come up for me shortly afterwards.   I have not had the issue since I changed it.  I ahvent surfed a lot with it but I was getting the problem frequently enough to think it's gone now.
