RunningMan:hio77: kinda looks like its been installed correctly.
looks like the tech has taken the easy route, and skipped the installation of the POTS side, since orcons install is naked dsl.
to double check, was this a fresh cable the tech installed there? just doesnt quite make sense, if the cables were all there and waiting, why the tech didnt connect the rest of it.. seems lazy for all of another 5 seconds of putting joiners in.
Difficult to tell if the POTS side has been connected when looking at those photos. Pretty unlikely it hasn't been given the rest looks good, but really need the OP to confirm if the blue/white pair from the splitter is connected to the original house wiring.

it is indeed hard, the OP kinda indicated to it possibly being from the filter rather than the cable, so i ran with it from that way.

-Blue/white of splitter going to a 2pair/4core cable which heads inside.
-Orange/white of splitter going to yellow and black conductors of a 7 core (i think it was) heading out to the street.
-Green/white of the splitter going to the blue/white pair of the CAT5 heading inside./
xxguestxx: Argh just cant understand it. I found the site http://www.chorus.co.nz/sat to see what chorus says about the connection i should get and
if im reading it correctly it says "more than" 10Mbps.
I just wonder what else could possibly be limiting my speeds. House wiring perhaps?
I know there used to be a home alarm system set up here at some stage thats not there anymore.
And theres about 3 or 4 other normal jacks around the house that dont get used. I wonder
If all that excess wiring is contributing =/ . I gotta find out how much it costs to test and or to rewire .

xxguestxx: Ah ok got it. Ok , even so..with all the stats and stuff that we've run through plus everything else determined...Is 1Mb actual download and 500kb upload what youd expect...after putting it all together? If so, then ill give up and accept it. But if not, i really want to find out what the problem is.
