Would be awesome... and terrible at the same time. We already consume enough media in our house, having unlimited Fibre would turn us into a bunch of hermits.

On a related note, @Snap: Lightwave Home Ultra promotion T&C's says "Offer is available from 14th March to 30th April only" yet its still shown on your website. Has this offer been extended? (not that its an issue for us as we've already signed up but T&C's are important!)

Sounds good, I'm sitting on the 550GB plan with the unlimited nights and all you can eat youtube add-on leaving me using often marginally under the cap, Although I do occasionally pop up to 1TB, Unlimited certainly would be nice to have as an option although I do intend on staying either way as I favour the solid international speeds as well as a number of other smaller factors.

On a side note, I do think the Big 2 providing unlimited will allow the major data users to spread across the various ISP's enough to allow it to not have the hugely significant detriment it did to those that have tried it in the past so It doesnt make a huge amount of sense not to offer it, Provided it is at a price that is enough to allow network load to be stabilized.

RalphFromSnap: Hi guys

The team at Snap HQ are flat out crunching the numbers - stay tuned!

With regards to the ETCs on the ADSL & Phone service, it does look like this is an error which we'll adjust soon. Certainly the intention is not to be greedy but to make sure each service pays its own way, and this particular service is among our least profitable. Which is why we're so keen to push fibre ;)

Hoperfully we'll have an update for you later this week.

Cheers
Ralph

choice, really dont want to change ISPs  :)

also I would love fibre, but not available in my area, stuck on ADSL until chorus upgrades my street (not even on the roadmap yet... in auckland.... sigh.,)

I would settle for naked fibre first! Happy to be on a capped plan at present as the caps are reasonable and large enough.

Fibre is already "naked" isn't it, or do you mean without VOIP? If so I suspect you'd find it wouldn't save all that much (Though I would be curious if this is the case)    If you don't want\need it don't use it - I tend to think of it in a similar way to ISP offered email. :)

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

All fair points and yes I mean without VOIP. We primarily use our mobiles as first points of contact and the only people who insist on a landline are the telcos (:D). However I still have to pay for the pleasure of a phone I hardly ever use. Only RSP to provide naked UFB is Vodafone and I don't trust them based on past experiences. Doubt there is much to it traffic wise but still, another layer of complexity / a service running over it we don't need / want.

It was interesting having the Chorus install and seeing what thier thinking was around landlines given they ran a cable back to the ETP to make sure the copper devices still worked. Part of the standard install. Even though we are CAT6 wired and I can plug straight into the relevant patch panel port straight from the modem!

I fully agree. When I signed up to Snap UFB I had to tell them not to provision a phone number to me. I didn't want any kind of phone service As I would then need to tollbar it. (got flatmates) And 2 previous ISPs have given me tollbar related trouble. So a bundled phone service is actually a liability not a feature to me.

You can just disable it via the fritzbox UI if you really don't want to use it

end of week and no word :(

i checked out telecom and orcon.  neither offer static ips on their unlimited plan (so i wont switch to them), vodafone offer one at $20.40 (unless it not available on their unlimited plan either?).

im hoping snap reduce their datacap prices, my month ends on the 12th, and I ran out of bandwidth on the 10th :) so slow internet for a day and half (their additional top ups are far too expensive at $2 for 1 GB, $5 for 2.5GB).   1TB for around $125 a month ill be very happy.

still have to checkout bigpipe (but internet is slow :))

I doubt they would make an announcement on a Sunday, hopefully there is something tomorrow.
