Is the yellow cable kinked or bent? And just check the green connector is pushed in to the smaller White box. (Refered to as a itp internal termination point)

Kopkiwi:

phantomdb: Just some inside info how the enable network is setup. The total bandwidth downstream is 2.5g and upstream is 1.5g divided between 24 customers. All service is a best case and you are only guaranteed 2.5mb so if you have 8 people on gig plans downloading heavily you will all struggle to get your max speed. It's a shared medium much like HFC (Vodafone cable)

I was aware of that but I've spoken with others in the area and no one else has had the same issues I have.

area as in direct neighbours or someone down the street on the other side kinda thing? they could be on a different splt to you so may not have the same issue

16 or 24 ... big difference!

are you still using the fritzbox?

if so see the post you started in october.

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=85&TopicId=204921

then check the firmware version, iTHINK its 6.52 is the latest dont quote me on that exactly.

then maybe take a screen cap of the internet account settings (Username/Password VLAN settings)

and possibly reset the router.

it should re-provision hopefully...... if not you should have the minimal info username etc to get it reconnected?????

after re-reading the whole post here it almost sounds like wifi congestion if you are doing this test over wifi.

how many wifi's show up in the wifi list either on your phone or laptop, and are you using 2.4 gig to connect to the router,

do you have any 2.4ghz cordless phones in the house? if so does speed drop out when someone is on the phone?

do you have any 2.4ghz security cameras? or even the neighbours?

any 2.4 ghz video senders?

Nah gave up on the Fritz, was having the same issue with 2 of them, updated the firmware, no change. Re wireless, everything apart from 2 cell phones is on a wired connection.

OK, so had the company out that wired up the place. They ran some tests on the cabling and ports and they said it's all up to spec. Getting 1Gb through the cables, there is no bends or busted connections. Everything from my end is completely as it should be.

2degrees have said everything at their end is fine. Enable have said everything for them on the SYSTEM is fine.

What the f(ire tr)uck is left.

Feels like my exact problem. I have run out of options.

If I could get Bigpipe Fibre where I live I would have switched long ago but that is not an option at the moment so just looking around at this time. Will probably switch in the New Year sometime.

get a fritzbox 7490 back into the network IMO - if that's causing issues then there's not much that they can blame you for.
