hi all i'm having rhe dump to voice mail issue as well.

2D number on a sim i have had just after went live running a Nokia 6085.

i can make a call any time and it will go live for a bit, go out of range or not use it for a hour or so and voice mail here we go.

i have good coverage and it goes to voice mail, a mate that has ported from Telecom to 2D gets the same.

help desk had some good advice LOL turn the phone off then back on and it should work. only thing is after a hour in full coverage you can call the phone and hello voice mail........

is there any way to fix it? i was looking at pay monthly but i will move if i cant get this fixed.

Hi CADMAX
Do you get the same problem with the SIM in a different phone?  You're phone might be having connection problems.

Another reason may be you're drifting in and out of our network canopy and the phone's getting confused which network it's on.  Try setting your phone to 'Manual' search and see if this also makes a difference.

If you're still having issues please send me a DM with your 2degrees #, exact location where this happens and an alternative contact #.

Cheers

Just switched back to VFNZ and got a shiny new iphone.

While i didnt really want to go to VF i couldnt justify it price wise purchasing outright vs subsidised.

One other slight niggle with the 2D crew was that credit on my 2D account couldnt be sent anywhere else...back to my bank or to another 2Degrees sim or whatever.

VFNZ recently did this for my partner.

All in all very happy with 2D though.

Will come back at some point!

Keep ripping up the rule book.....with data plans next time maybe??

The force is strong with this one!

I made the switch this afternoon and it was all very smooth. I was impressed that the credit check and setup of my pay monthly plan was almost instant, and the number porting went through in about two hours.

My only gripe would be that the facility on their web site for transmitting connectivity settings to my device didn't work. However in the end I discovered that I didn't require it, as configuring my iPhone manually only required me to set the APN and then restart it.

I seem to be getting a good signal (4/5 bars on the latest iPhone software) from my home which overlooks Lyall Bay, Wellington.

I started to read this thread having ported my number to 2D. I tried sending myself two texts from websms and after 5 minutes neither has arrived yet. That's worrying. So I don't know what other texts I could have been missing.

Web SMS services may be unreliable where porting is involved, especially if they use off-shore carriers to deliver via SMS rather than national carrier relationships in NZ.

Apparently not since nothing has turned up yet (and seems like it won't). Should there be any problems with AT&T Wireless in the US sending texts to a ported number (from VF)?

Well, the short story is that there are not supposed to be, and it worked first go for my ported test numbers. BUT yes: sometimes it doesn't work.

In that case it needs to be taken up with AT&T by the person sending the message. You should also log a ticket with us, and we will apply pressure from our end - but they are much more responsive to complaints from their own customers than complaints from small carriers in smaller countries.

The question was hypothetical at the time but I only asked because I do communicate regularly with friends on AT&T and now I am wondering if I am missing messages so I have asked them to send me a text to confirm.

[EDIT]

OK - just confirmed that AT&T Wireless is okay - able to communicate with a friend on that network.  Must only the web based services which are not so reliable including websms

I also just moved from Telecom XT (move to XT on launch day) to 2 Degree's - nothing wrong with the XT network, it was fantastic, just couldn't control my mobile costs. For example I purchased 2GB data every month and used 500MB, then one month my iPhone goes crazy and uses 12GB - first four GB were $60, next 8 were $819, and I can't toll or data bar it when it hits a limit.

I found the pricing from 2 Degree's for prepay was cheap enough that I could just go on prepay and control my costs for Calls/data with prepay.

I went down to BP at 4pm and purchased a SIM pack and registered online, and it said I had $11 credit but the pack said only $1, so I guess they gave me a entra $10 for signing up. Sweet.

I set to port my number online, and am used to this being a drama and taking a few days so I didn't take the SIM card home. Within 2 hours my number was ported and my old Telecom SIM stopped working. Impressive!

I then topped up using their TXT system, and from the memories I had with Vodafone's system, I was suprised and impressed by the speed and reliability of topping up.

I ran a speed test and got around 1.4 Megabits, and 256kb's upload, the download was twice as slow as XT, but upload on XT was always 56kbps so that is better on 2 Degree's.

Ironically enough both XT and 2 Degree's are faster than Vodafone in our offices.
