I moved from DSL to VDSL a few months back. Overall it was worth it although I find peak times in the evening the speed is not much different. However off-peak it's quite a bit faster.

How much faster/slower? Would you mind running a speed test for me at both times?

User123456: @lomenak - Did the technician come today?? What is the verdict?

Yeah the tech came in yesterday. It took him about an hour to install the new jack. He said that the connection will be 20/7 before it started working. He left and internet was up within 15 minutes. As he said 20 down 7 up which is not bad as we are quite far away from the cabinet.

Thank you for the speeds. I really appreciate it. You must be fairly close the cabinet at well to get a 10 upload speed, thats the max rated by Orcon

its only when your are nearing the edge of coverage that you start to loose upload speed, you can be 600 + meters away and still have near enough to 10mbps upload speed

Shouldn't be to bad if your ADSL is fairly decent. If you ask really nicely too, the Chorus tech might isolate away the other jack points which will help. wink

Adsl is currently running at the lines maximum speed (so I have been told on a few occasions from Orcon), but thank you for the heads up :), I will mention it, nicely ^^

Remote record is delivered over the satellite signal, not the phone line so no worries there. The Sky phone line connection is needed for some On-Demand purchasing.

Oh right, sweet! Thanks for the info! I have never done On-Demand purchasing and probably never will, so no worries there if that becomes unavailable.
