Snackos: ...I find peak times in the evening the speed is not much different. However off-peak it's quite a bit faster. How much faster/slower? Would you mind running a speed test for me at both times?
User123456: @lomenak - Did the technician come today?? What is the verdict?

About half the speed by memory
I just did it now at 2pm on Saturday and got 36/10. If I remember i will run it again tonight.

Yeah the tech came in yesterday. It took him about an hour to install the new jack. He said that the connection will be 20/7 before it started working. He left and internet was up within 15 minutes. As he said 20 down 7 up which is not bad as we are quite far away from the cabinet.
Snackos:Thank you for the speeds. I really appreciate it. You must be fairly close the cabinet at well to get a 10 upload speed, thats the max rated by OrconSnackos:User123456:Snackos: ...I find peak times in the evening the speed is not much different. At 7.20pm it's 26/9 so not too bad tonight.
Jase2985: its only when your are nearing the edge of coverage that you start to loose upload speed, you can be 600 + meters away and still have near enough to 10mbps upload speed

lomenak:
I am some 7-800 meters away I was told.
FlameBeard:
I think I'm 900m away and I regularly get 10mb up

Wow alrighty sounds promising then, just got hope all the wiring is up to scratch
FlameBeard:
Shouldn't be to bad if your ADSL is fairly decent. If you ask really nicely too, the Chorus tech might isolate away the other jack points which will help.
User123456: Would something like sky still work?? (the remote recording more specifically)
Regards FireEngine
FireEngine:
Remote record is delivered over the satellite signal, not the phone line so no worries there. The Sky phone line connection is needed for some On-Demand purchasing.
