Why? I already have a modem so don't want another one..

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be forced into buying another modem. It's $149 extra for the modem if you don't sign up for 12 months.

I don't get any other options but to have a modem, I'm already an existing naked vdsl customer..

timmmay: Ok it started working. Now the site's working I've discovered it's $69 for naked broadband instead of my current $79, but it goes up to $84 with a phone line - I don't want unlimited calling, I want a basic line and to pay for my rare calls. I like the $10 upgrade to faster broadband.

Maybe I ditch the home phone line and pay the same for faster internet. I rarely use the home phone, it was just disaster proofing.

All in all I think this has been managed badly and Snap is pissing off loyal customers who've previously been customer evangelists. Now it'll be "yeah Snap's ok, but they're 2 degrees now, they got more expensive, and they're less flexible".

Appreciate it could have gone a little more smoothly today but certainly winding up our existing customers was not our intention at all!

Even though the plans have changed a bit, its still supported by exactly the same people as before, and delivered over exactly the same network. So hopefully these things will continue to be valued by you & our other evangelists!

Any phone number(s) you are allocated will not be your property.
We may need to change the phone number you are allocated and will notify you in accordance with our Broadband Terms and Conditions, if we need to do so. We will not be liable for any costs which you or anyone else may incur as a result of such a change.

Hi Ralph

Does this mean 2Degrees reserves the right to refuse transfer of an allocated phone number to another provider if the customer decides to switch?

Under what circumstances would a phone number need to be changed?

Personally I disappointed about the land line increase. I don't make calls to Aussie or National calls using my current Snap Landline so they are saving me $10 with the Gigatown plan price drop and costing me $15 for the landline.

I know I can stay with what I had, so am not losing - but disappointed that my yay savings moment turned into an *bother* - nothing good here moment.

im with you on this , i dont call Australia or national calls so basically it's a $15 price increase. disappointed.

Agree with this - I have a fixed line but do not make many calls. Should not be forced into an all you can eat if you do not use it much.

I want to keep the line for house alarm and we get many calls from family on it.

I agree too, after all the hype about cheaper better plans I am left feeling let down.
Sure the plan I am on would be $10 cheaper with 2DBroadband but having to pay $15 more for a phone that I use twice a month and never use to call Auzzy or anywhere outside of my city is a Ripoff.
It seems to me Snap have taken a major slide backwards, guess in 8 months time when my contract is up Ill be voting with my feet...

If you're call levels are that low, why not just use your mobile?

Snap Phone Plus is free with the plan I'm on, if I use mobile the call would cost and you are assuming I have a mobile....

I'd pay $15 for voice if Snap were using the voice ports on the ONT, not so for having to use the Fritz.

Yes, I found those clauses odd. I thought that there was a number portability law that required that phone numbers be portable - if so, then those clauses run the risk of being in violation of the Fair Trading Act. And if I already have a phone number from another provider and transfer it to 2Degrees, what rules then apply?

So im a current Snap customer and got the email about change. It states you can change to a new plan after 3rd August. So guessing I cant before then?

I do have the change plan option in my account section but when I try get a message saying I have two phone numbers at my address. No idea what that means as have been on Snap fiber for last two years.

It's not free, it's integrated into the cost of your plan. You can solve this by going on their new naked plan, a $20-30 mobile and a $9 per month skinny plan. It's not going to be the end of the world for the vast majority of people that use their phone once or twice per month.

Hey Ralph!

Will 2 degrees be offering and package like Vodafone has where you can best mate to a mobile for $6 or they have included in their home phone plans "BestMates for home phone" where you can have upto 5 cellphones??

Currently compared to 2D's new plans, its cheaper for me to have a Vodafone account with HP bestmated with 5x 2 degrees mobiles (prepays), rather than having everything with 2D
