Does anyone have the 2Degrees Prime video subscription working on a Fire TV? I have a Fire TV 4K configured to dns4me and since I activated the 2Degrees Prime Video offer, I have lost all listings of Prime Video content other than a tile for Grand Tour. And when I try to play that, I get an error code 5505 - to do with country settings.

I've tried various combinations of setting NZ & US addresses in my Amazon account and selecting/deselecting the Amazon Video service in dns4me, but to no avail.

Any insights or suggestions?

I have the same issue.  All I see is a random banner for some Japanese show ... I think.

From what I can gather, the Fire TV can only be used for US Prime Video accounts (possibly UK and a couple of other countries).  The 2degrees subscription will be tagged as 'NZ' Prime Video.  There's an alternative launcher that I'm going to play around with when I get time.  Or I'll upgrade to a Shield ...

Reverted back to my 'US' Amazon account in the meantime, that doesn't have Prime anymore, just to get other things working again.

OK, thanks for that. I will be interested to hear how you go with this alternative launcher.

foundauniverse: I have cancelled my Amazon Prime Video offer through 2degrees and am continuing my US-dollar based Prime Video subscription available to all New Zealanders.

I have confirmed with 2degrees support (with a double check on the validity of their internal knowledge base article) that a Twitch Prime subscription is NOT included in the 2degrees/Amazon offer. Specifically this Twitch Prime linking does NOT appear to apply https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/twitch-prime-guide?language=en_US#option3: "If you are already a Prime Video member who DOES NOT live in the US, Mexico, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Spain, Japan, Singapore, Netherlands, United Kingdom or Australia you obtain Twitch Prime at no additional cost by connecting your Prime Video account to your Twitch account."

For the short time I've been freely subscribed to Twitch Prime I've been able to add 23 games to my account including Dear Esther, Hotline Miami, Hotline Miami 2 and Republique. It's an excellent monthly bonus.

2degrees have resolved the issue in a manner where I am more than happy to continue paying for Amazon Prime Video separately. Thank you 2degrees!

Interesting.. I pay directly for Prime Video(no 2D offer) and it includes the Twitch Prime sub for me, despite my billing address being NZ.

Just trying to get a definitive answer on this from anyone in the same situation, I have a US Prime Video subscription so will this 2degrees offer work with that or does it only work with a NZ subscription?

Only with NZ. I had to get my US account transferred to a NZ account before I could redeem it.

Thanks for that. How did you get it transferred? I'd assumed I'd have to cancel it and create a NZ one rather than trying to juggle two accounts?

Our move to 2D BB happened yesterday, and I've managed to successfully set up Prime on our iPads; however, I hit the same problem as above - the ironic situation of not being able to watch Amazon Prime on an Amazon Fire TV! I tried the same thing of switching my location to New Zealand, but to no avail either.

As per the earlier questions, has anyone with a Fire TV managed to get an NZ Amazon Prime account working on a Fire TV? Are there any known workarounds?

@freitasm - you mentioned you you're watching on a Fire TV, but is that with a US Prime account?

Ok, I've now found references to the 3rd gen Apple TV having an app for Amazon Prime; I've not seen this on our Apple TV, but perhaps it's just hidden. Can anyone report that they have the Prime app on the 3rd gen Apple TV? That would be a much better option than having to airplay from an iPad.

Another question, sorry - has anyone with the 2D Prime sub managed to successfully have different family members use it via Amazon's family share functionality?

Our family is used to working VOD services with separate accounts for each member - I mean, it's a standard feature of Lightbox even. It enables us to not only ensure our content is appropriately tailored, but also means we can ensure the kids have access to only appropriate content.

I can't find any ability to set up such individual accounts with Amazon Prime, and assume they provide such functionality via their family share feature, which allows things to be shared with one other adult and up to four kids. Which would be great, if only it worked in this case. I linked my wife's account to mine, but when she logged into Prime she was only offered a 30 day free trial.

It could well be that this freebie version can't be shared, but I haven't found any information to confirm it either way. Does anyone (perhaps @2degreesCare ?) have any knowledge of this? Thanks!

[I get there are parental controls that can be turned on with Amazon Prime, but I'm thinking those are account-wide not device-specific; it also won't solve the pollution problem of having anime and Bollywood flicks mixed in my content]

I realized this was the case after I signed up to the 2Degrees Prime video offer.

I got in touched with Amazon chat support and they did confirm Fire TV only works for a limited list of countries, which doesn't include NZ.

Their recommendation is to use a Fire TV Stick.  However I don't want to spend another $80 for the stick.

My workaround is to use the Prime Video app on my Android phone and cast it to the Fire TV.

Thanks heaps for confirming that. What a bloody stupid arrangement, and it’s weird the Stick will support it but the standard Fire won’t.

I’ll see if I can find Prime on our Apple TV, but if not I too will need to cast from my phone or iPad.

I also thought it was ridiculous that you couldn't use a Fire TV to watch Amazon Video (if you were trying to access the NZ version). If they want to encourage people not to bypass geo restrictions then they should make it a better experience not a worse one.

It's being a while since I tried, but one workaround I used in the past was using the Silk browser on the Fire TV to open the amazon video website. You need to login manually, and navigation was horrible, but once you were watching something it worked fairly seamlessly. Pause, fast forward and rewind on the remote all worked as they should. Picture quality also seemed good, but can't vouch whether this is better or worse than casting.

So my 12 Month contract with free Amazon has just expired. Has anyone renewed and got the free Amazon Prime again?

Is it possible?

Yes, it was not a problem to the person I resigned up with.

And I got told short answer no, only allowed once to have it free.
Things don’t seem to be consistent.

After asking if any thing else for a one year contract got offered something else that I’m happy with.
Don’t wish to say, as they may stop offering it.
