2degrees are doing Ericsson upgrades with no 5G so that might be the case here. One example is one of my local sites Totara Heights. Fully upgraded to Ericsson (including addition of a L700 layer at the same time) but no 5G at all. Have seen a few of these around the country.

I thought it might be because of the microwave link that this site used to have, but I see it's fibre fed these days (probally swapped over same time as the Ericsson switch over) so that rules out that possiblity.

Probably cost related I guess - not worth the upgrade perhaps. Strange becsuse this site is right on SH 1 and just down the road from Manukau CBD so I would think enough traffic to justify the 5G upgrade.

Anyway back on topic, 2degrees texted me last Friday to advise scheduled outage for the Puhinui cell site near my work. Seems they do text people who are frequently near a cell site that is being maintained. Hopefuly it's an upgrade including 5G. :)

@Aucklandjafa a number of sites were swapped out from Huawai to Ericsson on the North Shore and 5G hardware was not added and then a number of months later they came back and put on the 5G panels and enabled 5G

I bet in the next few days GIS Geek will be updated to show L700/L900/L1800/L2100 for that site.
