ioquatix: It looks like to use the new plans you HAVE to buy a new modem even if you have an existing one. I got told this was because of support reasons, but this has never been a problem in the past and my existing modem negotiates a faster connection speed than anything else I've tried. They told me I just need to keep the modem on site for diagnostics!?
Digging the new prices but saving $5 a month only to pay ~$160 for a modem is pretty annoying.

I really really hope that is not true.
Q: Do I need a new 2degrees Modem if I change to a new 2degrees Broadband Plan?
Common sense is not as common as you think.
SCM:lxsw20: If you're call levels are that low, why not just use your mobile?
Snap Phone Plus is free with the plan I'm on, if I use mobile the call would cost and you are assuming I have a mobile....
Samsung Note20 Ultra, on 2degrees

Personally, I don't mind the fact that they've changed - more power to them - I equally have the power to change (never buy into 12 month contracts!) - but the problem I have is how obnoxious it is to force stuff you don't need. Let's face it, more ADSL modems is not good for the oceans or forests - just saying.

I think we've established this is not true. I should note in passing that the Fritz 7490 modem is quite good, gig ports, ac wireless and built in dect.
It's right there in their FAQ, the told me over the phone too! I have a 24 port AT9000 gig switch! I have several AC base stations already! I don't need more crap in my house :) I've never seen anything negotiate a line speed faster than the RTA1320v6 - I've bought and installed about 6 of these modems over the past 6 years. It also has a telnet console so you can tweak the noise margins. It's awesome. I get approximately 30% faster connection speed than anything else, rock solid reliable.
bbunnys: So im a current Snap customer and got the email about change. It states you can change to a new plan after 3rd August. So guessing I cant before then?
I do have the change plan option in my account section but when I try get a message saying I have two phone numbers at my address. No idea what that means as have been on Snap fiber for last two years.
Shock: I think I could up my current UFB plan to 200/200, pay the same and drop the phone number but it is not clear on the website.
The signup for the $89 plan has the options of saying no thanks to phone during UFB signup, does this mean we can remove an existing phone service with the snap plan we are already on and then upgrade the speed?

If this is a deal breaker then sign up for a free 2talk line (including 10 mins local calling) and the new 2 degrees plan and save $10. Win.
I used a 2talk line to test my Fritz modem with my Dect cordless phone and it worked fine.

Hi bbunnys
That doesn't sound right. CAn you please DM me your account details and I'll get one of the team to take a look.
Cheers
Ralph
Huntakillaz: Hey Ralph!
Will 2 degrees be offering and package like Vodafone has where you can best mate to a mobile for $6 or they have included in their home phone plans "BestMates for home phone" where you can have upto 5 cellphones??
Currently compared to 2D's new plans, its cheaper for me to have a Vodafone account with HP bestmated with 5x 2 degrees mobiles (prepays), rather than having everything with 2D
