Thanks for the input, Was not actually expecting any advice so thanks again. Was posting to prove a point that 2degrees were letting me down on there point, my previous connection on 2degrees gig serve was capping out @ 200/20 for some reason and no one could figure out why. Much happier with new speeds but I know they are not perfect. Apparenlty now are still trying to figure out the service on their end so Im being a bit of a guinea pig for them. I will look into it to see if something is limiting on my end.

Actually what - you moved to NOW? You're aware they by default do CGNAT and other funky things right? This is a bit of a step back from 2degrees Gigabit.

We've already proven there is something going on with your network - it isn't with your provider. Your speeds are low indicating the device you're testing through are not supported by Gigabit. In your case it wasn't your provider and I think it is purely coincidental you're getting better speeds.

To be getting exactly 200/20 is a very simple sign that the connection is either provisioned at 200/20 or the BNG is shaping your traffic to 200/20.

To be getting such poor speeds on a 1000/500 plan either shows a very poorly configured RSP network or the simple fact you have network issues and/or devices that simply aren't capable of getting close to 1Gbps.

Both are entirely different issues.

So I had testing done on my line over the last 24 hours or so. Speeds are consistent and around 900Mb, seems the problem is maybe my PC. Can anyone recommend a new network card for a Dell NUC?

Glad you finally got it narrowed down. What model NUC is it?

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

Care to take a photo of the "special router" they sent you? Did it look like this?

Cheers -N

Yeh that speed constraint is probably more related to the router. A decent quality router should be able to get about 900mbit+ on the download. Are you using a NUC?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Think I posted it earlier in the thread, I ASUS big space ship looking router, still had poor speeds on that.

Without knowing the model it's only possible to speculate, but it's entirely possible that with a lower spec device like that that it's simply not going to be capable of delivering you a speedtest close to 1Gbps

This thread is going nowhere...

Right - @sign and @Kopkiwi please follow these directions and post what is being asked - it is to determine what is causing the bottleneck. Without this there is no real way we can help. Answer everything on this post:

1) Specs of PC - Please download the latest version of CPUZ from Here. Post screenshots of all the tabs into the Geekzone image uploader and copy the BBCode for a small thumbnail with a link to the FULL size image into your post. You'll need ALL tabs in the app. This will give us most of the information we're needing. Use "Snipping Tool" already on your PC and take a "Window Screenshot".
2) Ensure you're using Ethernet for each and every test.
3) Go to https://beta.speedtest.net and run a Speedtest to Spark Auckland and Wellington. Post the links that you get into your thread also. Ensure you're using Google Chrome for your testing as testing differs between browsers.
4) Please also state any security software you've got running on your PC - as in Antivirus etc.

@Kopkiwi also - do take a picture of this box they've sent you. It is for the good of mankind. Pictures of your router setup also can help.

There are very few people that will see any benifits from having a Gigabit plan and as quoted from others around here it is simply a "dick measuring contest" - I don't need it, have got it but need the upload more than anything which is still overkill and the likes of my iMac and other devices on my network cap out. Not all devices support Gigabit.

Post EVERYTHING that is being asked on this post with how it is being asked. Simple oneliners like "I WAS GETTING THOSE SPEEDS BEFORE" does not help at all. If you want the communinty to help then you're needing to reply with what information is being asked from you with as much information as possible. Again, we simply can't help if you don't provide this information.

The thread has been going for over 2 weeks though

95% of the time the issue lies within the persons own network.

You can also try using a different device (ie computer/laptop) to see if you get different results, as others have pointed out some devices just deliver gigabit speeds and leave you believing that this issue is with your ISP when its just a poor quality network card
