bnr034: Is there going to be any traffic management with these new 2Degrees plans?

Hi bnr034

Absoutely not - Unlimited broadband data to us means no fair usage clauses or traffic shaping - we leave that to the others ;)

Cheers
Ralph

Huntakillaz: Hey Ralph!

Will 2 degrees be offering and package like Vodafone has where you can best mate to a mobile for $6 or they have included in their home phone plans "BestMates for home phone" where you can have upto 5 cellphones??

Currently compared to 2D's new plans, its cheaper for me to have a Vodafone account with HP bestmated with 5x 2 degrees mobiles (prepays), rather than having everything with 2D

Hi Huntakillaz

I'll need to get an update from the product guys on this one, but I don't think its on the roadmap for a while yet.

Just remember to check out Vodafone's broadband performance via the monthly Truenet reports, maybe paying a few extra dollars for the phone services froom 2degrees/Snap might be worth it ;)

Cheers
Ralph

Since its my parents using it the phones services are more important than the BB.
But it would an awesome thing if you can provide something similar for 2D customers, even if it comes in by Xmas.

I myself am already 2D/Snap customer ;)

Which others? As far as I know maybe only 1 of the major ISPs actually implement any traffic shaping or throttling.

I think maybe only slingshot do it, but spark, bigpipe, orcon, my republic all say they don't do any shaping or throttling.

From what I was told when I called this morning, it's in their new terms of service that you must use their modem

That's unfortunate. frown

Yup ... for me its going to probably mean changing provider, as being able to get mobile/broadband packages is making it more attractive.

With my setup having bridged modem, Tomato routers, multiple Wireless accesspoints ... Im not about to swap out to some generic modem they want to force me to use.  Ive got, and had, a rock solid connection for years now and don't need to change.  Don't need support I making sure it all works.  Ive got my own hardware as redundancy.

Hi unsignedint

Yes it is. Existing customers that had it on their account can keep it there, but for the new 2degrees plans its no longer an option.

With Unlimited plans being priced so competitively it didn't really make sense to keep it.

Cheers
Ralph

Hi Jiriteach

It looks like we had a bug in the self-care portal, I understand from the guys that that has been resolved now. Do you want to try again? If you're still having issues, PM me here with your contact details and I'll get someone to give you a call to sort out.

Cheers (and apologies for the issues!)

Perhaps just tell them that you already have a modem? Buy one off trademe for $20? It's a bit of a weird policy.

Yup all resolved now! Thanks. It looks like I can go ahead and upgrade my plan.

If I wanted to upgrade my current 24month term Snap 200/200 to a 2degress 200/200 12 month term with a FritzBox. How do I do so? Following through online wants to make it an open term and I have no option of selecting a FritzBox.

Thanks

So the new Fritzbox required, from the 7390 to the 7490? Am I reading that correctly? And then the change of terms. Other than that, it's the same network by a different name. (For now)

Hi Jiriteach

As you're still in your original contract period we wouldn't provide another device, you'd just continue to use your existing Fritz box as per normal.

We've got a few tweaks to make to the portal as its not quite presenting all the options, so if you want to DM me your account details I can sort out manually for you.

Cheers
Ralph
