Kickass: i think i have found a bug on gingerbread.

Im using CM 7.0 #21 on a desire HD

When i load this widget up it says " you must be using a 2degrees sim"

Im using a 2degrees pay monthly sim with a ported 021 number./

Interesting, I have a check for the sim provider at that point..

Can you download the "Android System Info" app, and look under the system tab for "Telephony->SIM Operator Name" I am expecting "2degrees" Its possible some sims have a different operator name.

Thanks - we can sort this one out..

Why have that check at all?

Try my 2degrees toolbox app, it should work since it doesn't check anything about the sim.

I put in the check on sim to make sure the people using it were 2degrees users, but it seems on some phones there is a bug, so I have removed that check, I am doing some testing on additional changes and will post an update soon.

I have just uploaded another update..

* Bug fixes - traps any errors caused by google analytics.

NEW FEATURES

  • Change the widget background, Black, Red, Blue, Green & Transparent.

  • Change the colour of the text for each item on the widget - to any colour.

  • Move some preferences into sub-screens, makes it a bit tidier?

  • Some preparation for handling errors like "you got your password wrong 3 times" at logon, currently traps the problem, yet to decide how to show this to the user.

Things to do

  • Better info to the user when an update is needed at first install, thats still a bit messy.

  • Maybe more widget colours & styles, any suggestions?

Future.

I have begun development of a paid version, this currently has the ability to notify the user through the notification system when a balance reaches a configured level, eg balance < $5 this is fully user configurable (you might notice a non-functioning preference in the current version). I will also add some more options for when the application will update - eg when sync is on/off, timed updates, after text being sent, and the possability of saying "only update after x phone calls or texts" and "dont update more than once per x minutes). This app will be something like $3.5 to $5, yet to decide.

I am also interested if anyone wants to pay $1 for a adfree version of the current version, probably done via a download of a basic app which will "un-advert" the widget and when that app icon is clicked on it launches the display screen.

If anyone has ideas/suggesions, let me know here or e-mail on android@winters.org.nz

Enjoy.

wintersm: I will?defiantly?not be doing any work on USSD, there is no?official?supported SDK, I could look in the source code of android and find what its doing, but i suspect any mobile provider will not be happy about that service being hit regularly.?

Now, stats from the android market 103 total downloads, 84 active installs..

:)
?

I'm not an Android developer, but I can't see why an SDK would be needed.. If the phone supports USSD call/return (and it does) then its just a ping-pong. Issue command, read return?

(As I said, I'm not an Android developer - but I can't think what a USSD SDK would even be used for?)

I'm on Postpaid and love this widget, but there doesn't seem to be a way to show how many of my monthly allocated minutes are still available, only my bonus minutes. Am I missing something?

Silly Me. I see how to do it now. Remaining postpaid minutes are listed under " Your spend since last bill"
Not sure why, but at least I can see them now.

You need an ussd api because android does not give you direct access to run AT commands on the modem.

When you dial the number in the dialer and call it, it runs the ussd code but does not return it to the calling application.

Note that on the last billing date, data on my postpaid account changed from National Data to Postpay Plan Data. The latest update on the widget is needed to deal with that. Thanks!

the latest version includes a feature that can e=mail me any data items that it doesnt know about, if you use that then I can include them..

If there is something it doesnt reconize, when you do a refresh from the details screen it will popup and ask to e-mail them..

I can use that informaiton to include it in the widget.
