NzBeagle: So the new Fritzbox required, from the 7390 to the 7490? Am I reading that correctly? And then the change of terms. Other than that, it's the same network by a different name. (For now)

Hi NzBeagle

Yep, we're continuing to use the Fritz boxes from Germany. Terms are generally pretty similar to before (some wording has been changed so that it more closely matches the 2degrees mobile wording), and then as you say, its still the same quality of service, delivered over the same network, supported by the same people!

Cheers
Ralph

So, here's a question.

I'm on an existing 12 month contract, so I'm effectively locked into paying $109/mth unless I want to enter a new 12 month contract or pay $149 for a modem I don't need.

Can I break my contract so I can move ISP's to a) pay less b) not be forced into a contract or modem?

RalphFromSnap: Hi Jiriteach

As you're still in your original contract period we wouldn't provide another device, you'd just continue to use your existing Fritz box as per normal.

We've got a few tweaks to make to the portal as its not quite presenting all the options, so if you want to DM me your account details I can sort out manually for you.

Cheers
Ralph

Hi JamesL

Can you please PM me your account details? Keen to take a look and make sure we come back with something that works for both of us.

Cheers

The $15 VoIP line is disappointing, and I'm in the same boat as everyone who doesn't make national or Australian calls from their landline.

I have a landline for one reason: to receive calls from elderly family members who have a basic landline and will be charged for calls they make to mobiles. I suspect this is true for many people who still have landlines.

Shock: I think I could up my current UFB plan to 200/200, pay the same and drop the phone number but it is not clear on the website.

The signup for the $89 plan has the options of saying no thanks to phone during UFB signup, does this mean we can remove an existing phone service with the snap plan we are already on and then upgrade the speed?

Hi Shock

If you're already on a Snap plan then you can change plans via Your 2degrees (self care portal). If you select a new UFB broadband only option this will drop the voice service, and you can then add one of the Speed Boosters to get you to 200/200 if that's what you're after. Pricing for that service would be $139/m ($89 base plan plus $50 Speed Boost) assuming you're wanting Unlimited. And you'd get Neon on us for 6 months.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Ralph

Thanks for that Ralph. I have done this via the portal. It did not mention anything about Neon so assuming that will come through in time with cut over information. Hopefully nothing changes on my end or needs my involvement.

For others - It didn't tell me to buy a modem and stated my existing one would suffice.

Ledgy: OK i'm still confused about the new plans. Is there any savings here really? I've gone to the my2dgrees & does have 2 options on a plan but didn't want to go any further as I think my current plan might be better. It may also look like a speed drop to what I have unless you addon.

I know my plan is not of the norm because of past upgrades but snap had been very good to me. Anyway i have Fibre broadband 100 down & 30 up i think. 130gb month, Fritzbox 7490 with phone + $10 nz unlimited calling so all up I am paying $95 per month. I noticed about the increased $15 unlimited nz/oz calling. Not interested in calling Oz but $15? I only have a prepay 2degrees mobile ($19 combo per month).

Is there a saving to be had here or should I stay where I am?

No response so I'll take that as a "No" then.

This is exactly my scenario.

Current plan is $95 including land line for vdsl - (57mpbs down/10 up) Have been getting 200Gb on a term contract which ends in august so I go back to 80Gb which will not be enough.

My 2 degrees mobile is on the 19 prepay plan so to get the $10 discount I need to pay $10 more on the phone plan to get more data and mins which I don't want or need so my plan costs will go up to 114 per month.

edited to clarify.

Im on $109 VDSL unlimited at the moment. I think that gets me a snap voip line, but I have never set that up as 2talk does all I need.

Anyway, if I want to change to the $89 unlimited, how do I do that without getting more modems, installations, or contract periods.

I dont care for a $15 a month landline, or free neon, but I guess the neon isnt something I can opt out of and I will be forced to in some way be giving money to sky, even if it is indirectly by going onto the new plans?

I have to admit that I, too, was hoping for an amazing new deal that would save me stacks of cash off my current Snap package.

My current package was just too competitive, unfortunately. I guess i'll have to be satisfied with what I have ;)

Well my current $109 isn't competitive with others anymore, but I have just been too lazy to look for alternatives to it.

Guess the new plans are padded by $10 over other telcos to allow for the discount if you have a mobile with 2deg, which I wont be doing till they get their network to the levels of the other telcos.

Hi Ledgy

Sorry for the slow response.

If you can PM me your account number I'll take a look at your services and see how the new pricing stacks up.

Cheers
Ralph

Hi richms, Guv, and any others in this boat

I'm happy if you want to DM me your account details, I can have a look at exactly what you've got and whether we can do anything.

In terms of changing via the self-care portal, we've got a few tweaks to make to this to better reflect the issue of existing cusomters wanting to move over to the new plans, but not commit to a new term or take a device. We're working on this as quick as we can.

Cheers
Ralph

Great - good to hear we got that right.

Can you PM me your account number and I'll make sure the Neon thing happens.
