Hear a plug for 2 Degrees.

Left over Pre Pay credit has been returned to me on departing 2 Degrees.

I have 2 dual sim phones where one sim is somehow subordinate and an only works GSM 2G.  Where I am G3 and 4G reception is not wide spread and there is benefit in having two companies in the phone for more coverage in isolated areas.

2 Degrees takes the fall and is substituted with Vodafone.

Not bad behaviour as with Gold Mobile (Spark) or Telstra Clear who I will never forgive for being skillfully unhelpful to suit themselves on termination.

Sitting at Petone and the 2G signal has gone offine - we've now entered the age of 3G and 4G. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the future - VoLTE and greater use of the lower frequencies that 2 Degrees have licensed.

I'd imagine they would have waited till their were no active calls on 2G before they shut it off.

I reckon they only would of checked for 111 calls, That is all we checked for when doing planned work that impacted voice calls

Yep, it's been confirmed that roaming with Vodafone 2G is now disabled as well.

Any opinions are my own and do not represent those of 2degrees

Aarrrggghhh.

I have a Warehouse Mobile sim card in my Paradox Alarm GSM module. Got trouble light yesterday on alarm panel indicating communication problem. Been trouble shooting this afternoon. Module displays no GSM signal level lights. Tried a Vodafone sim and that was fine, tried another WM sim and no signal showing. Only just now realised that it is probably a 2G module.

Wonder how many others are going to be caught by this?

One group of people that missed out on any notification are those that have in the past set their 2degrees phone to 2g only way back when they had trash 3g network, and only cared about calls. Had a friend whos mum found not working till it was thought to check that it wasnt set to 2g only, and sure enough it was on 2g only and they remember doing that about 4 years ago because 3g was terrible where they worked.

I was asleep at the wheel with this one too - my wife has a 2D contract with an S7 so she's not affected.  I did, however, have a 2D prepaid SIM in my Paradox PCS200 that went offline at the great switchoff and I spent a frustrating hour suspecting that module to the extent of swapping it out for a PCS250 I had lying around to fault-find only to have the good lady remember that she had received an email from 2D she had not thought important at the time.  As far as it impacted her, she was right.  Me?  Not so much.

I replaced it with a Vodafone SIM and all was well.  But that was after yanking the 2D SIM out several times, putting it into various modern phones and texting from it.  Grrrrr.

I hope Vodafone persists with 2G for a looong time else I'm going to have to rethink components of my alarm system.

Damn! My home alarm uses 2g GSM only for calling out if the alarm is triggered and for remotely arming/disarming/checking status via txt - so has a 2 degrees card installed in it. Now I know why it's not been working for the last few weeks!

I guess Vodafone sim might work? Or time to just install a new control panel. What a hassle :(

At least with them saying 2G until 2025 puts everyone on notice that they have 6 and a half years roughly to upgrade.
