I'm interested to know...

Did 2degrees build every Hamilton cell site as listed on the MED web site?
So far has your mobile reception got better or worse (mainly where you live and work) since moving to native 2degrees service?
Has 2degrees new coverage solved any black spot issues that you used to have when roaming on Vodafone in Hamilton?

Cheers Andrew

insane:
DjShadow: Tried a speed test from Te Awa Mall (Te Rapa), looks pretty good but the network wouldn't be under much 3G pressure:

How did you manage to get such an upload speed? fastest I've ever achieved is 380kbps on 2degrees.

iPhone 4 must support HSUPA (or HSPA if thats easier)

I am guessing that was tested on an iPhone4
the iPhone4 supports 7.2Mbp/s down and 5.6Mbp/s up theoretical so the downlink result is pretty much the reality max for HSDPA7.2 and the uplink while not maxing out the iPhone is in line with the HSUPA2.0 standard.

I noticed my phone wasn't roaming on the VF network so jumped on here to see what's up. Does this mean we will be in the 'mobile broadband zone' now?

Not yet. We're still optimizing the network which will take a few weeks.  When it's ready we'll let you know when Hamilton is a '2degrees Mobile Broadband Zone'.

Univeristy lecture theatres appear to have got slightly worse but now it appears its coming through as weaker 3G. Before vodafone had strong 2G and 3G would always cut out.
Not with 2degrees for my main phone though, this is just observations of others phones.

I'm finding, since the network has been switched on, a large decrease in battery life.  Anyone else finding this?

I made a new topic here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=88589

Where you getting a 2G connection in the past?  2G uses less battery than 3G.  It could also be due to the network optimisation that needs to be done.

Seems I misinformed myself(obviously, read it wrong somewhere) that 3G was more efficient/uses less power.
