Orcon just posted an update that they will be cutting TVNZ from the oZone, so no more free traffic guys.

Wonder what they mean when they say TVNZ has changed the way it serves content?

slightly odd.   TelstraClear don't unmeter TVNZ anyway.

who gives a sh1t if they unmeter Ziln or trademe.  nobody watches Ziln, and trademe uses barely any traffic.

I wonder if tvnz is using an overseas CDN or something to serve their video now.

It's actually a bit funny, we recently left Orcon, because the free use of TVNZ On Demand (while a big selling point when we signed up last year) was no longer relevant for us, as we'd purchased a HomeRun and started watching better quality video.  The 0.5-1GB unmetered didn't add up in price or total allowance when compared elsewhere.

On a side note, does this mean that Snap are the only ones that don't meter TVNZ On Demand, or are they going to make a similar announcement?

I'm on Orcon but never used TVNZ On Demand so no great loss to me. TiVo would be nice though but they won't do that as they are now in bed with Sky..

Ozone is pointless now. If tvnz has changed its end we should prob see other isp's following orcon's move, I guess we'll see if orcons full of bs. I used the NZTV on demand quite regularly I think its a pretty big feature to "brush off"

You're right. My brother has only just switched to orcon on my recommendation, and was sold on this feature as he does a lot of ondemand viewing. He signed up on a one year contract. I wonder if he can now get out of that due to this change in the contract. It is a big change in service. Noticed they say that trademe viewing is now zero rated, but that uses very little data, and you can't watch TV on trademe last time I checked.

Are there any other ISPs who offer zero rated TVNZ ondemand?

Tivo is no big loss, as the content for it is poor, I personally have never used the online services due to cost and poor content. Tivo in NZ is laregly owned by TVNZ yet they don't even have ondemand stuff on it, which is a major fail. I am sutre if they did,and it was zero rated, tivo would have been more popular. It is still a great device.

Don't worry guys, you have the NZ Herald!!! A worthy replacement. What, all 20 megs of traffic it must take up a month.

I'd be more interested if they added Steam. Hell, even Windows Update.

NZ herald does include some video, but wonder if that video is included as it maybe hotlinked from another service.

Snap look to be the only other unmetered option. Wonder if there will be some new ones.

Steam would be a very welcome addition. The loss of TVNZ OD is a bit sad - but most of our TV watching is via our MagicTV box anyway.

I have about 30gb of games I need to download on steam!

HAHA Totally windows update would be more beneficial than any of the stuff they got on there at the moment. Steam would be great or Xbox Live and PSN.
