As a bit of history, last year I got a TV that I wanted to hook up to freeview.  At the same time I wanted to mount it to the wall (so it didn't fall over in the quakes) so I had someone come in and get it all mounted and fix up the antenna since I wasn't getting a digital signal despite having a UHF aerial on the house.  There was a splitter system in the roof that didn't appear to be working so rather than fix it up, the guy connected the socket in my room directly to the antenna, which worked and was fine since no one else in the house has a digital TV.

However, I've now moved rooms and obviously I'm not getting a digital signal in my room.  Rather than having someone come out and paying for them to look at it again, I thought I'd have a look first and see if there's anything I can do that makes use of the splitter system so should others in the house get a digital TV, they too can use it.  Here's some pics of what I found:

This would appear to be where the main antenna signal comes in and then splits it out.

Each of those outputs from the first pic goes into one of these boxes

I've never really dealt with antenna cabling before so I'm not sure if this is done right.  However, I remember at my parents their antenna system has a power adapter inside that plugs into one of the antenna sockets and I imagine, gives power to the splitter.  Am I missing one of those in this setup which is causing the TV to get no signal?

to start with the very first picture is a booster/splitter, which tells me somewhere there should be a power adaptor hooked in to the aerial system, is there? If not this could be the biggest part of the problem.

The other picture showing the other 3 splitters is really a bit of a mess, Ditch the 3 other splitters, get a 8 way power pass splitter. and connect all the outlet to the 8 way splitter.

In order for the unit from the first picture to function, it will need external power such as a psk08 (below)

The first one needs power.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

No, there's currently no power supply for that booster/splitter in the first pic. Are the power supplies somewhat universal or do I need to find one for that specific model?

It's a masthead amp with 4 outputs and requires a power supply to work.
Plus it appears to be VHF only with one input and 4 outputs so is no use for Freeview UHF (see the markings "VHF Gain").
Ditch it plus the other splitters and go for a multiway splitter with whatever number of outputs you need.
Should find them at Bunnings, Mitre10, Jaycar, DSE etc. They are in diecast boxes with multiple f sockets.

P.S. Just checked the Kingray specs online and I see it does work at UHF as well. UHF gain is fixed at 12db and only VHF gain is variable. It's a superceded model. Probably just as economical to get a new one from Jaycar (which comes with power supply and suitable for freeview) rather than try and find a power supply for it.

Alright, so I was correct in my assumption that the current setup is quite a mess lol.  While I'm willing to have a go at it myself, I'm thinking I'd probably be better off getting someone to come in and redo the whole thing.  Any estimates on what I'd be expecting to pay to get it all tidied up?

Just as an update, I stopped in at Jaycar and picked up a powersupply for the booster. Plugged it in and it's working perfectly now - TV signal diagnostics says it's got 100% strength. So, thanks guys for the help!

I was just going to mention that Jaycar do universal/separate power supplies for these things, but see you've already got there.
