Hi,

I have just moved into a new place & have a Sony Bravia KLV-26T400A (without Freeview built in) and a MagicTV Freeview box. There is also a Sky aerial & satellite installed, this is the only aerial that we have.

I tried to connect the Freeview box to the TV, yet all that comes up is no signal. I followed the instructions & diagrams exactly. I attached a aerial converter to the Sky aerial so that it would fit in the TV.

Is there another cord that I need? Or is there something else that I've missed?

Little confused here.
Do you have a Sky UHF aerial OR a Sky satellite dish?

If you have a dish, your Magic TV box will not work with the dish. Sorry, it's time to get a satellite Freeview box.

How are you connecting the MagicTV to the Sony? You should be using HDMI for best quality, and then you can select it as one of the HDMI inputs on the TV (dont choose the TV option on the Sony as these are for if you are using the inbuilt tuner, rather you have the MagicTV which is better!)

Or even better a UHF aerial appropriately pointed if you don't have one and are in a suitable service area.

It's important to specify your location when asking about Terrestrial Freeview reception.

A Sky UHF aerial might not be pointed in the right direction for the Freeview UHF transmission. Not everywhere is able to receive Freeview UHF so check the maps on the Freeview website. Do you know where the UHF aerial is pointing? It would also be up to 20 years old so something might have gone wrong with its wiring.

The aerial needs to be plugged into the Magic TV so plugging the UHF aerial into the TV by itself won't do anything for the Magic TV.

On an unrelated note, do you have the latest firmware installed in the Magic TV? The old firmware was buggy so if you have firmware older than 3.17 (for the 3600) it'd pay to update it.

Even if the UHF works I'd suggest getting a cheap Freeview satellite receiver. That would give you one more channel (CUE) and let you watch a third channel when the Magic TV is has both tuners recording and some channels are unavailable to watch. Some of them are able to record to USB.

There's no need for that unless they're in a place that can't receive Freeview UHF. The broadcast quality from satellite is bad and it'd be better to put money towards fixing the aerial if that is the problem than buying a second PVR box.

A 2m HDMI cord is about $12. If it is the 3600 the included component cables should be indistinguishable on a 768p TV of that size. Component means 3 video plugs, 2 audio. Composite uses just one for video and is poor quality.

I'm also rather confused.
Why would you plug your sky antenna (presumably satellite dish?) into your TV.
For Freeview HD you need a UHF antenna into Decoder and HDMI cable to TV.
For Freeview Satellite you plug a satellite dish into a Satellite STB and then HDMI, Component or composite to the TV.
