I was checking out the app store on my samsung bluray, and there is now a tv3 on demand app.

The app plays adds when it opens, and randomly when I was navigating.

PQ looks good. I thnk it said available on samsung bluray, home theatre & tv 2012 and above.

adds or ads?

All I can picture is 1 + 1 = 2 , 2 + 2 = 4 when you open the app

Hopefully this means that they will have some sort of decent offering on the iPad in the future.

JonnyCam, have you got TVNZ on Demand on your Samsung bluray? I can't seem to get it on mine.

Yeah, that works well too.

What  model is your bluray?
I've got an F-6500

Yeah, I must have been thinking of apps when typing :)

It's a smart idea inserting the ad a the start of the application.
Through the listing of the programs, there were also ads for Revlon, and when the popup adverts appeared, you could hit back to exit them.

I have the BD-F8500. I see on the website is says TVNZ on demand does not work on that model. I asked Samsung why, and they said "ask TVNZ"!
Cheers

Oh good, well done to TV3 and Samsung.
It does make the Samsung units that much more desirable when it has the on-demand stuff available.

Will download for my TV tonight.

Yeah, it's pretty much a replacement for my bedroom HTPC now.

I use Plex, TVNZ & TV3 on demand, and the beta of Reven's NextPVR app for samsung. (plus I have the option of watching blurays & DVD's - but haven't had a need to open the drive tray yet)

maybe they just didn't submit it for testing - or didn't want the on-demand bundled with a freeview recorder (for some unknown reason)

Does seem strange, your player is the same as mine, with the inclusion of HDD + 2 x DVB-T tuners.

Stranger and stranger. Maybe there is hope.
From TVNZ:
"Hi There,

Thanks for getting in touch.

The TVNZ Ondemand app is available on a selection of 2013 BluRay players.

However, that particular model (BD-F8500) is not available to us when we select which devices to deploy the app to in the Samsung admin interface.

We will contact Samsung to try and find out why."

According to TVNZ, it should be available for the BD-F8500 now. I can't see it in Samsung Apps - could anyone else with a BD-F8500 check to see if it's available? Cheers

I have a UA40EH5306 and cannot see it on the apps either. I've updated the core Samsung Smart app but still can't see it.

TV3 or TVNZ?

for TV3: I read what it was available for (in the app store description) so I'll confirm when I am at home.

I find no sign of a TV3 on demand app on my Samsung ES8000 in the app store.
