After using this TV for about 18 months I finally had occasion to use a pair of headphones. There's sound on one channel only. There headphones are OK on something else and I can't see any setting that would kill one side... or is there ?
Sounds to me like the Headphone socket on the TV is faulty or more likely the plug is just not plugging in fully and making proper contact. Try checking with another set of headphones. You could also try a pair of PC speakers which are amplified and use the same connector plug.
Hi... I've tried both a 3.5mm jack which it is, and a 1/4" to 3.5 adapter and two different headphones. Definitely no signal on one side. There are audio out phone jacks and they're OK as is the TVs own sound. Not really worth servicing as phones aren't used enough... only hope was some magic setting somewhere that might have been it.
Sounds like a sound card I once had that was only outputting Mono on the Line Out. Close inspection of the board showed a missing capacitor. Fitted a matching capacitor in the empty holes and voila - stereo.
My 3 year old 42" Panasonic has balance and headphone volume in the sound menu. The balance actually only affects the tv speakers, not the headphones. But later models may have separate balance for headphones (?) or might change headphones too. Anyway, make sure the balance is actually balanced.
