I have been told by one of the most experienced professional satellite guys in NZ that you would need a 5m dish to receive Vast from Australia. However Sky NZ uses Optus D3 as a back-up for D1 and this can completely wreck the much weaker Vast signal which is more tightly focused on Australia than Optus C1. C1 will be retired on December 31 this year and we will lose SBS 1 in NZ.
Hey, Thanks for that not the answer I was looking for but certainly enjoyed Ch 7 for the V8s and SBS for the doco's. lets hope new technology will be available soon that will help us in NZ
A few SBS documentaries , current affairs programmes and a few dramas are also screened on Australia Network which can be received in NZ. However you need a 2.9m dish and a C-band lnb to receive it from Intelsat 19. I believe it may be possible to receive Intelsat 19 with a solid 2.4 dish but this size of dish is best mounted on the ground rather than on a roof.
