Sometime ago my DVB-S (in a PC), reception started getting really bad and pixilated .... most people suggested that the old Sky/Sharp dual-throat LNB was probably on the way out.

Finally, today I fitted a new LNB (from Freeview Shop), but cannot get any signal/scanning etc on the PC.

I noted that the DVB-S card's green power light did come on at boot-up, but as soon as I went to scan the transponder it went out, and naturally no channels were picked up, viz. the orange signal activity light never came on at all.

To test the PC's PCI slot, I put the card into another computer, and tried that .... same result.

Would this tend to indicate that the DVB-S card is kaput?

Some DVB-S receivers require a stronger signal than others. I have one (Pinnacle 7010iX) that wouldn't work properly until I put an inline amplifier before it. Could be a cheaper option than replacing the tuner cards.

UPDATE:  All working fine again.

Cleaned card edge and motherboard slot, then re-installed card driver afresh along with TV program.  Re-set everything and away it went wink.

Happiness.
