I used to watch this show (and I am betraying my age a bit here) when it was shown on TV locally with Peter Sinclair (he died too early) and also TVNZ (if that is what they were called) also broadcast the UK version.
I rediscovered the show when I was channel surfing on BBC iPlayer, watched the BBC version, and discovered how much I enjoyed (!) pitting my knowledge against "brainy" students. Though for the UK show, many of the questions are really only answerable if you grew up in the UK since it's hardly "general" knowledge for a Kiwi.
Anyway the show has been resurrected by Cue in Southland and they secured airtime with Prime. The show is quite enjoyable, albeit not as polished as the BBC version but then their quizmaster, Jeremy Paxman, is a seasoned broadcaster with years of on-air experience. In fact I suspect his interviewing style (evident when he was on BBC's News Night) has influenced many of our TV journalists here though they are not quite as adept.
For those who want to see students from their alma maters compete against each other, with questions that they can possibly answer, check it out. And of course these days you don't have to get up at 11:30am to watch it - that's what DVR's are for!
