Released in 2016, the S7070rHD has a DVBS2 Tuner and USB Recording functionally, with a simple set up process, all you need to do is plug in, scan and then you are ready to watch Freeview Satellite channels. More info here

Is the S7070rHD from the same source manufacturer as the 7070r.I have found the 7070r to be a reliable build especially in our area of sometimes doggy mains power.

I have only had 1 power supply fail out of hundreds of installs. Hope this new product will continue this reliability.

Hi Maca

I'm the Dish TV agent based up here in Kerikeri, This device is small which saves on cabinet space but provides a powerful HD interface, simple plug and watch with a very responsive UI, The UI is the same with T2100 so please take a look at the T2100 Manual for screen shots. USB Playback the same with the S7070r attach a USB device and (format if need to) and then record and watch.

The device will be capable of HD channels should they arrive on Freeview.

Hi there, so with this DishTV S7070RHD, can it guarantee that it outputs true HD to my Samsung TV? The reason I ask is that I have read forums where it states the Dish TV receiver will still only receive in 576p , thus relying on the TV to upscale it to HD. If this stands, then are we saying that the S7070RHD does this conversion instead of the TV, thereby sending a proper 1080p HD signal from the Dish TV box to the TV? I don't care about recording or on demand , just want to know that I can watch the news etc in proper HD when I know my TV is capable. I use Apple TV and that delivers perfect output. Cheers

It will still be upscaled, as the satellite broadcast is not in HD. Whether the DishTV does it or your TV does it may make a small difference to picture, but it will still be 576i upscaled.

Hmm, thx mate, but short of trialling one of these things Im still possibly in the same situation, as I have the earlier model DishTV. Why can't the broadcasters simply send out a full HD signal, whats stopping them, cost of infrastructure or spectrum?

bandwidth

there is only a certain amount of bandwidth per satellite beam. the more channels you have the more bandwidth, the higher the quality the more bandwidth.

they are getting around that a little by using better compression methods, but that requires the end user to have kit that supports it

Freeview Satellite content is not HD, its only 576i coming into the box, However the unit will output the HDMI signal in Full HD and will up scale the image, your TV will then up-scale the picture even more if required. Freeview are working on making channels in HD soon, but this may take a year or two.

To confirm, the S7070RHD will output in Full HD

Spectrum, Optus D1 has not enough space to contain both HD and SD Channels unless the SD channels are transmitted in MPEG4 which SKY plan on doing when they finish replacing their legacy decoders. then you start to see more HD Channels replacing the SD variants.

Hi Josh, have installed quite a few S7070rHD boxes. No complaints so far. Menus are crisp and clear, good picture quality from SD freeview.

Channel 9 Au was good before it moved to IS19.

Same retail price as the 7070r...so good value.

Thanks Rod, being based here in Kerikeri, have been approached by alot of people where the S7070rHD has been a good replacement for SKY and the S7070r

My S7070rHD box is offering up major lip-sync issues... all other sources connected to my amp (Yamaha pre-amp) via HDMI are perfectly synced.

I've got adjustment on my pre-amp, but the amount seems to differ from channel to channel.

I've factory reset the STB and it's running the latest firmware... so I'm a little confused.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

I've had my S7070rHD running for 14 months now, and nothing like that happening .... I'm connected by HDMI directly into computer monitor and using flash drive for recordings. More often than not I transfer the recordings to my NAS for viewing on big TV in another room ... again no sync or any other problems.
