Like someone living an abusive relationship who has just realised how badly they have it, I've just come to the realisation that the T1000N is a piece of absolute garbage, that I've been tolerating for months.
I bought it earlier this year as I had no TV tuner whatsoever, but have come to realise that the interface on it is probably one of the least intuitive pieces of software ever written. I work in IT, so for me to say that is saying something.
My biggest gripe with it is the timer interface. When I bought the unit, I never envisaged I would be recording TV, but in reality, I practically only watch it recorded. The unit doesn't give any sign of Freeview Plus, and while it does have a nice electronic program guide (when it feels like loading it, which is about 66% of the time) you can't use that to set the recording. No, you have to go into an entirely separate menu, set the channel, the start time, the timer mode, then the duration of the recording. And even then, if you do that properly, you'll still have a good chance that your programme won't record. Lately, I've had zero attempts work out of my last three.
I look at people who have Sky, with their absolute ease of setting recording and just sob quietly inside my head at how badly I have it.
So, as you can probably tell, I'm in the market for a new Freeview box! :)
The only ones I've managed to find are the DishTV ones - T2100 and T2200. Are there other options as well? How are the recording interfaces on those two boxes compared with the T1000N?
Thanks
Richard
