Wondering what the modes XP,SP, FR actually mean?

Book is no help. One mode showed the title was 112%, and too big to fit, another was a lot less. I settled on FR at 99%. Does this give the best result?

Title's duration was about an hour. Copy time says about 90 mins, no higher speed possible? Any other tips I should know ?

It is the compression ratio. LP means "long play" etc. Essentially, the higher the compression, the more you can fit on the disk (and the worse the picture quality).

Thanks... the times are in the manual (buried away on p98). XP= 1hr, Sp 2hrs, LP 4 hours, EP 8 hours (on a 4.7GB disk)

FR (which wasn't in the book) is 'free range' and is best fit for duration. I got 67 mins on. Reasonable quality.

Now to Handbrake it... pity that isn't an option as it's far more useful than DVD format.

Why bother copying to DVD? It's far simpler to transfer the file to HDD or external USB HDD on your PC or Laptop. That way you can retain HD content. You can only burn to DVD in SD.

I gave up copying to Blu Ray and/or DVD disc years ago with my Panasonic BWT720 as transfer to PC was so much easier. The files can then be played easily to a TV using video player software or via your network.

I used to use an A C Ryan Media Player but now have a HTPC which is far more versatile.

I would much prefer not having to copy to DVD, but how else can I get the file(s) off the Panasonic?

The 440 won't copy to anything but a disk, afaik.
