Hello all,

I'm looking at getting a Topfield TF6000PVR ES. 320GB twin tuner upscaling HDMI PVR with wired Ethernet.

Does anyone have one of these?

I havn't been able to find any reviews of this as it seems to be specific to NZ?, what overseas model numbers are equivilent?

I havn't owned a Toppy before, but have read some general Toppy FAQs on the Aussie topfield forum site. I understand that the older Toppys had a few bugs like wakeup from standby that were fixed with TAPs, and replacement EPGs etc. What bugs or limitations in the 6000 series still require TAPs, or is it perfectly functional out of the box? Any recomendations on what TAPS work on this version?

Yes I would like to know what they are like also.

It appears the UK model has WiFi instead of wired LAN:

Can't get DTT at my place in wellington and will probably never get it so 'upscaling' might be the way to go.

Thanks for the link. I have been trawling the forums, and have read similar comments.

My Employer is giving me a long service gift, and I have suggested this (with some extra cash from me). When I get it I will post my impressions here and on APSATTV forum.

Topfield NZ inform me that Tone magazine, PC World and Wares Magazine have done reviews. They do not seem to have the reviews available on their website though. Also apparantly d-brief (www.d-brief.co.nz) will be reviewing the topfield range.

Hi.

FYI This months Tone Magazine (Jun 08) has an article on the TF6000PVR ES. Lacking on any substance though.

I have taken the plunge and ordered one. should have it tomorrow.

As per my original question, does anyone else have one? Is there any need for, and are you running any TAPs on it?

I'm keen but one thing the Tone magazine critcised of this unit was the inability to add five or ten minutes to the start and/or end of a scheduled recording - especially given how TVNZ and TV3 often run late. We currently have MySky and this function saves us often from missing the start or end of a programme.

I'm interested to hear how you find the box as I am thinking of grabbing one myself - all depends on the above function being added.

Yep, Got my TF6000PVR ES on thursday.

Been busy setting it up and trying to iron out a few kinks.

Yes, you can edit the start and end times for recordings, After scheduling from the EPG by hitting the record button, you just hit the record button a second time and you can edit the recurrance (one time, daily, weekly, weekdays, weekends), start time, end time, & program name.

Hello Darryn,

I have one of these PVR's and I read the review in Tone magazine. They are wrong. the feature you want has been in the Topfield PVR's for as long as I have had anything to do with them (it started with being incredibly jealous over my brother inlaws TF5010PVR). And it is rediculously simple. just press the record button again after using it to select your program from the EPG and there you have your adjustments. From that same window you can also get it to run the timer every day, every week, every weekday or every weekend. and if you set your clock to update from the satellite that runs the nz channels the timing is not too bad anyway.

Given I have called Sky twice to upgrade to MySky HD and had no response ("the upgrade team is busy - I'll get them to call you back"), I might head that way.

Is the EPG format OK?
