Have just set up our new Panasonic DMR-HWT260 HDD recorder, after sadly retiring the much beloved TiVO.

This new machine is driving me slightly mad with a couple of little things that I can't figure out how to fix.  Can anyone provide any answers please?

Questions are;

1)   When in the Guide or the Video Menu,  the little thumbnail that plays a preview is really annoying.   Is there anyway to turn this off.   For example,  if I have paused Live TV , then go the the Guide,  it starts up again and the only thing to do is Mute it.

2)   A more underlying problem.   We also have a Panasonic Blu Ray player and when I press any of the function buttons like "Function Menu" or "Video Menu" it activates the Blu Ray player on HDMI 2 channel.   Pressing the button a second time gets me back to the HDD,  but this is really annoying each time I want to select a recording.      It also goes to HDMI 2 anytime I press the "Exit" button from the guide.

I really miss my Tivo.

Would appreciate any help, as I'm willing to give this new one a fair go (before I throw it out the window).

For 2), you should be able to choose Remote frequencies on with the HWT260 or your BluRay player (option of 1 or 2 usually). Switch one of them - the HWT260 remote and the BR remote share some buttons obviously.

Fabulous,   that worked perfectly.   Thanks for that.

One out of two solved,  great!

1 drives me nuts too, on the older model I've had for about 5 years - if you find a fix, please post it.  It's especially annoying because recordings normally start before the start of the programme you want to record, so the preview is of a random programme that was on before.

I always get the loud annoying adverts.    There is no mute button on the HDD remote, so I have to rummage around for the TV remote to mute it!
