Exactly that

Is there something/way to review the freeview listings and let you know when a specific movie is added to the TV listings

eg I want to see "The secret of Moonacre" but its not currently scheduled on any channel, is there a way i can set something on some site or whatever to tell me when this movie does get scheduled no matter what channel its on?

I have a feeling the answer is no, but I have missed patently obvious things before.

Can you code at all? There are hosted program guides in xml format. You’d have to download and parse it every few days.

Infact rather irritatingly 3 movies in a row that i thought I owned the DVDs of and spent a fruitless period of time looking for are all on US netflx but not NZ Netflix

In MythTV I can just create a search rule that should match the title if it is ever broadcast.  That way it will record it for me if it ever turns up in the EPG.  But there is no way to get MythTV to send a message to say it has found it, rather than recording it.

The easy way to code something that let you know would be to download the EPG from somewhere in XMLTV format and then use grep or an XML tool to do a search of the EPG file.  There is a downloadable source for NZ DVB-T EPG - PM me if you want to know where to get it.

If you have TiVo you can use such a feature. It's called WishList
