Hi, I have a Hauppauge HVR-3000 card and i want to tune in the Freeview Terrestrial channels with WinTV. I'm not having much luck though as Auto Scan only picks up the 2 radio channels. Any one have any ideas?

I have a ati radeon 9800 pro (agp) which has no hardware acceleration. I've been reading the following topic and have just tried DVBViewer using the guide provided in the topic and no channels were found :(

New Zealand Freeview | HD Guide (DTT/DVB-T)
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=19328

p.s I have an old sky uhf aerial with 22 elements. it picks up prime ok. A little snowy but not to bad.

pc specs:
P4 2400 single processor cpu
1024mb ram
ati radeon 9800 pro (agp)
Hauppauge HVR-3000
win xp

cheers,

Win TV won't work with Freeview|HD.  It will work with satellite Freeview though, provided you have all the satellite stuff sorted.

DVB-Viewer should work with Freeview|HD

use the following:

the transponder list is important, as otherwise you'll end up scanning at 7Khz intervals, which isn't right for NZ.  Also make sure the range is set correctly.  This will vary depending where you live.  See here  for more info.

next click scan range

should result in

if this doesn't work, maybe you can't pick up the signal correctly.

Hate to ruin your day but the performance you will get out of a machine with such a low spec will be terrible. You may be able to get the regular 576i SD channels OK but TV3 certainly won't work and TV1 and TV2 will probably be marginal at best.

Yep your right. Qualities awesome but very choppy. No worries at least i know the card works with Freeview Terrestrial and that our uhf aerial is ok. Pc was due for an upgrade anyway.
