Im not sure if its because I am using a card with no acceleration so theres a stupid filter in the videopath or what. (I am assuming the card doesnt since I am getting 70-80% cpu on tv3 and not much less on 1 and 2 on a amd 6000+ dual core.

Basically there is an absurd amount of sharpness being applied on the HD channels - the SD ones look great, but 1/2/3 are annoying the hell out of me. Its only visiable when I fullscreen it, but its quite drastic. Is this something happening client side or is it just the penelty for having an upscaled SD program on?

Havent watched any native HD on it yet since I have just got gbpvr working under vista today.

I've noticed/wondered about the same thing - most noticeable, to me, during 3news.
I have hardware acceleration, 8600gt with PowerDVD8 codec - I have sharpness settings on TV and PC both turned off, yet the righthand side of the 3news newsreaders has a thick, light, 'ring' to it; looks just like poor 'sharpness' over-applied. I think it's applied at the broadcasters end - although you'd hope, if they're gonna do such things, that they'd do a better job!

I ticked dxva in its options via the ffdshow audio icon that appears when I am on 3 because of AC3 and my CPU is down to 50-60% on 3 and 30ish on 1 and 2 - I am pretty sure that the quaddro fx550 hasnt got support for a full decode but its certainly not dropping frames now on tv3 like it was before - still looks bad because of interlacing on video content tho.
