Vantage HD 6000T/NZ Freeview PVR Ready needs a separate USB Hard Drive and looks pretty good at $299.
Does any one have information about this Unit.

It seems to have two main disadvantages - a single tuner and no 8 day programme guide so:

1. Is it good value at $299.
2. Any problems in using a Seagate Free Agent 500G HD.
3. Do you have any reports from users.

Take a look at what else you can get for $299 and then ask yourself this question again.

2. Any problems in using a Seagate Free Agent 500G HD.

I highly doubt there would be any problems, I'm using a western digital and it works flawlessly. I personally can't comment on a seagate.

3. Do you have any reports from users.

The lack of 8 day EPG for a PVR makes it quite restricted unless you are happy setting time slots.  It is the presence of EPG that makes a PVR useful.  Look for something that includes an 8 day EPG or wait until one becomes available in your price range.

Cheers Mike

A bit of searching on your behalf would have thrown up the most comprehensive discussion of this unit which is over on another forum (but also referred to in other threads on Geekzone): http://forum.dtvforum.co.nz/showthread.php?t=640

Agree re earlier post of the limitation of no 8-day EPG - this is really the only thing stoping me buying it (partly as my partner insists that any HD PVR we get must have this function!).
