Finally got all the audio problems sorted with freeview/ powercinema, settle down to a recorded program.

Hmm, here is an advert, lets just skip over that using the wonderful random access ability of modern computers . . .

Hmm, whats this, powercinema does not allow time seek or fast forward. This is even worse than the old VCR's, at least they allowed fast forward.   I thought, must be dumb user, so, looked up the manual, hmmm, no fast forward. So looked up the various forums,  others note the lack of fast forward too.

I have to say , do cyberlink the makers of powercinema have rocks in their heads? They must be the stupidest clowns on the planet, and definitely do not deserve to be in business with such amateurish developers.   I cannot believe it still. This basically renders the software almost useless, except for watching live tv.

The issue is just in Power Cinemas's H.264 support.

Is there any reason why you are using this in preference to other applications such as GB-PVR, Media Portal or even DVBViewer that are all far superior?

I tried GB-PVR, and media portal. But, they don't work 'out of the box'.  One of them was asking for a tv server, and installed some sql engines.  Then, it was asking for user name/password to the sql database, I was completely lost.

The other, wouldn't recognise my tuner card. Then, something about this monogram codec, it's all too time consuming.

I just don't have the time to spend hours working out how to install them and the quirks of each product.

At least powercinema was easy to get live-tv working.

OK, I tried GB-PVR. There was no one-stop setup instructions, they were all over the place. It requires you to load the guide before scanning channels, don't get that.

Got monogram installed (how to install that was fragmented too, the download page doesn't say how, but found it in the forums).

Now, GB-PVR kind of works, I get audio dropouts on live tv, but video is smooth.   I have spent 4 hours trying to get this working....other half is not happy.

I've trawled the forums, looking for how to fix these audio dropouts, but no luck. So, I give up, unless someone has advice?

Hey wreck, what version of Powercinema are you using? Do you have the latest build of your version? Check here http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/support/powercinema/patches_en_US.html. I'm currently using version 6.0.2221 which has fast forward, but before that was using 5.1 which also had fast forward. Try the keyboard shortcut ctrl+shift+f on one of your recordings or any other video. If it doesn't work check in the Cyberlink directory of Program Files for a KeyTable.ini file and look for the Fastforward function. If the keyboard shortcut is something else try that instead (you can change it if you want to). If it works, i'm guessing that there's a problem with your remote mappings in irremote.ini (would need to know more about what hardware you're using first).

I'm not sure what would cause the audio dropouts in GB-PVR. I also use this program and don't have any problems with audio. I would again make sure you've registered the monogram codec properly and assigned it as the HE-AAC decoder in the GB-PVR config.

I am using 5.1.  It is not really fast forward, the most it goes is 2.0x speed.

Does 6.0.222 support the AAC+ ? Maybe I should look into upgrading powercinema.

Not sure why gb-pvr audio is dropping out.  I have set the correct decoder (if i put the wrong decoder it would just not work at all ). I could find no other posts of people having the same prob (i checked hauppauge/geekzone/gbpvr forums). My PC is fairly grunty so don't think there is a problem there.

Maybe you should install the latest patch if you haven't already? I believe it's free if you're using any version of Powercinema 5. When I press fast forward twice the speed increases to 4x, again to 8x and so on until 32x. I don't think it's necessary to upgrade to Powercinema 6, it's basically the same as 5 but has a different interface. The last version of Powercinema 5 I had installed had no problems decoding AAC+. The Monogram codec was only necessary for programs other than Powercinema.

Thanks for the suggenstion. I installed the latest pc5 patch, but, now , the 'settings' option is not working. I hover the cursor over it, and it sparkles, but clicking it nothing happens.

I checked the fast forward thing, and it still goes a max of 2x speed .

i wonder if I should do a complete uninstall/reinstall. But, now I have spent 12 hours mucking around with this .......so frustrating, just goes to show this type of stuff is really 'beta' product .

what needs to happen, is for one of these companies to sell a hardware/software combination specifically for the nz market.
