Hi all,

I'm finally getting my PS3 set up in another room and need to get TV into there somehow.  Does anyone know if there's been any development with the Sony PlayTV PS3 add on?

I heard things sort of sprung to life after the last PS3 system update which allowed pictures on all channels but only sound through TV3's dolby soundtrack.

This is the recent news: http://computerworld.co.nz/news.nsf/tech/CAE50ABF5AEB0C8FCC25759A006DEE5C

It's just a wait and see at the moment. :(

Yeah so new news about the same old news.  Good to see an accurate article though, not the average one we get in the news papers etc that just add to the confusion regarding what freeview is/isn't etc.  (still seems to be a perception that freeview is an alternative to sky as a whole, like you'll get all sport coverage etc)

If Sony could just allow the NZ audio to be supported via a firmware update it would open this up to those of us who would be prepared to import this from the UK.

Just sorting the audio would allow me to use my PS3 as TV source as I have this in another room at the moment.I'm not worried if initially there was limited EPG data as hopefully freeview will up the amount that they already broadcast on the UHF service in the future.  Recording and the EPG could be sorted at a later day.

Sounds like they have PlayTV working in France, but France is upgrading to a newer standard which is similar to ours. This may mean a specific PlayTV software upgrade for France is not far off, and therefore it may improve our chances of getting sound on the non Dolby Digital audio channels here. Will wait and see......
